[opensuse-factory] According to top, i've got processes for a previous user still running
HI I'm not sure i've interpreted this correctly. I was previously logged into my machine as different user , did some emails etc, logged out and logged in as the current user. I ran top and it shows 3 entries for the previous user, i thought these would have been closed down when i logged out of that user. The entries are: (all different PIDs) "systemd-systemd " "systemd-systemd -(sd-pam)" "systemd-kio_http_cache_" Is this usual? regards Ian -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Those processes are new, but I have seen similar problems since years, with gnome or xfce not closing all the internal processes on logout. I have a small script to kill them myself. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. I'm on KDE/Plasma - so its happening to all desktops. I'll do a bit more logging in and out and checking each session to see it its always the same

If this is oS 13.1 it is a known problem. In that case you might use systemd-210 from Base:System:Legacy instead. Werner -- "Having a smoking section in a restaurant is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool." -- Edward Burr

Before reporting: try the *latest* systemd from factory. Werner -- "Having a smoking section in a restaurant is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool." -- Edward Burr

He is using Tumbleweed, so he already has the latest available. Unless you refer to the non-published Factory, before passing openqa :-? - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. No, in my case I was not talking of systemd, but things belonging to gnome or xfce. Sometimes a Pulse thing. For instance, this was my killsillies script from 2009: #!/bin/bash pulseaudio -k echo "wait 15" sleep 15 echo "educated kill" killall gvfs-fuse-daemon killall pulseaudio sleep 5 echo "forced kill" killall -9 gvfs-fuse-daemon killall -9 pulseaudio - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E.
