[opensuse-factory] Can the user remove the dummy output entry from phonon audio video
Hello all, I'm trying the remove the "Dummy Output" entry in the Default Audio Playback Device Preference window. I also added my user name to pulse. Which file is storing this entry in Plasma 5 in Leap 42.1? -- Cheers! I'm trying the remove the "Dummy Output" entry in the Default Audio Playback Device Preference window.
Why do you need to do that? It doesn't work and I just want to remove the entry. -- Cheers! Roman -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Of course it doesn't do anything, that's the point of it. In which way does it matter? It does. Once a user gets their card working (I'm using Intel) the dummy output should be removed. I like the column clean without faded entries. We had many users on the forum have the same issue with openSUSE 13.2. I can help users resolve this problem with KDE4 but not with Plasma 5. This was a problem in KDE4 and it was resolved. I expect the same with Plasma 5. Hopefully a patch will be provided otherwise you would have replied with an answer. ;-) Cheers! How is that different from the other entries for inactive devices, that may be reactivated on hotplug? That is a different story. I would understand if I had two or three audio devices. Since I have a single Intel audio chip on my motherboard and the "dummy output" is useless to me. It doesn't work.! The user should have the option of removing it in Plasma 5. As I mentioned in my last response about KDE4, adding the "pulse" group to my user name and a reboot should have fixed it. IMHO It's a bug. I don't see this problem in GNOME only KDE. A great example is the Yast Printer module. It detects my HP printer provides a driver for selection. Once the set up has finished I see my printer name. Nice and clean. Why not have this for the audio section? Cheers! Follow Up Looks like an update has fixed the problem. The dummy output is gone. Good job! -- Cheers! Roman -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
