[opensuse-factory] yast2-fonts is gone, forever?
yast2-fonts package was removed from the machine during an upgrade to 20190506 snapshot, and the openSUSE:Factory/yast2-fonts doesn't exist anymore too. Did OpenSUSE/YaST team(s) give up on an effort to manage fontconfig effortlessly via GUI, or if not, what happened? I personally considered this feature to be one of the distinct ones that separate OpenSUSE from other Linux distributions. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

YaST team is innocent. yast-fonts was created and maintained by community. Unfortunately there is none to maintain it anymore, see the mail from April in this forum. Of course if you or anyone else want to step in, I am prepared to help. I personally considered this feature to be one of the distinct ones that separate OpenSUSE from other Linux distributions.
Are you willing to take on maintainership and address bugs as they are reported? Then it can certainly be considered to have a come-back. Cheers Dominique

I feel like it's important enough to be present on a user's desktop. After the exams period (ends in a month) I'll definitely spend some time learning how to package and maintain RPMs (I have basic experience with Arch Linux user repositories), and then we'll see.
Cheers Dominique

That would be perfect. However, note that you will be also upstream of yast-fonts code (not only rpm packaging). Petr -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Could you please send a link to the filtered list of bugs (of yast-fonts) from bugzilla? Because the openSUSE:Factory/yast2-fonts does not exist at build.opensuse.org, I don't know how to correctly find package-specific bugs. When I want to file a bug against a particular package, I just find the main package in OBS and press 'Report a bug', otherwise it's impossible to choose the correct categories yourself. And to find all the bugs against this package, I'd do the same and see under what categories the package falls, but in this case I can't.

Right, I forgot about this myself, I'll be willing to guide/help out
as well. I was quite busy over the past month but I should be more
free now.

I don't think there is an exact search for a specific package. You can just search "yast2-fonts" or "component:yast fonts" or something like that. When a bug is reported, a triager will assign the bug to whoever is the bug owner of the package (which would be you!).

In the big long list of categories, you mainly only need to worry about products "openSUSE Tumbleweed" and "openSUSE Distribution". Any reports for yast2-fonts should just be under the YaST component. -- - Karl Cheng (Qantas94Heavy) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
