On the other hand I do not understand when someone who has sufficient knowledge about systemd to fix systemd related things in a particular package does the fix only on his own but does not contribute it to openSUSE via a submitrequest for that package.
It is usually after discussing with the maintainer and the bug not going anywhere, I'm building a package that either patches the "feature" that it works for me, or, more often, I create an addon package which just works around the issue for me. Example: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:seife:fixsuse/pam-config (which fixes the "every user session no matter if cron job or ssh login starts a systemd session and pollutes the logs with useless messages).
From the discussion in the bug it was made clear, that hell is going to freeze over before a (IMHO) sane config would land in openSUSE, so I stopped arguing.
The alternative would be to just build my own distribution. I do this for embedded all the time, but I'm still reluctant to do this for PC hardware, especially as long as most things are easy to fix with an addon repository from OBS. -- Stefan Seyfried "For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for nature cannot be fooled." -- Richard Feynman -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
