I just read this article on Phoronix. Is some of the SW in openSUSE running with debug in some cases ?
Two tests stick out as very bad: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=intel_atom_four&num=3 and http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=intel_atom_four&num=5
We have seen those results and are currently investigating what the reasons are. Barrier Support for filesystems (actually a safety feature), memory hotplugging and similar things have shown up on the radar already.
