Of course, an application could perhaps notice what is not installed and say so when trying to use a feature that needs it. But not all apps can.
In such cases shouldn't it be a "Required" package instead? I don't quite understand why use "Recommends" if the dependency is necessary for a program to function properly.
Because "proper" is in the eye of the beholder. I expect evince to read PDFs, so I need evince-plugin-pdfdocument.rpm, but another person may expect it to read DJVU (which I don't care about), so they need evince-plugin-djvudocument.rpm. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
