And the, Lennarts page is certainly not a good source for unbiased discussion about sytemd, unless you want to cater to his alternative facts.
Actually I think its a good analogy, since the kernel is one preconfigured binary but with modules you can choose.
As for Lennart, since he wrote systemd I'd think he would be the definitive source about what it is and is not.
No, absolutely not. Because of course from his POV everything about systemd is great, the best and everything.
No 'alternative" about his facts.
You're just making fallacious ad-hominem attacks. https://www.logicallyfallacious.com/tools/lp/Bo/LogicalFallacies/1/Ad_Homine... This means that you have no solid basis for your arguments, that you turn to personal abuse of the author.
No, there is lots of software Lennart created, that makes a lot of sense and is really useful. And the beginnings of systemd certainly were well-intended. But as so often, the execution is less than optimal. Instead of shoving everything and the kitchen sink into systemd, and trying to replace everything with it, the existing problems (ever tried to read your journal back in finite time? ans that is just one example I'm fighting with every day) should be fixed. But that seldom happens. I really could not care less who writes a piece of software.
