I installed openSUSE 12.3, switched to tumbleweed, installed some packages such as apache2, perl, php5 and owncloud, and tried to configure nfsserver. note: current tumbleweed is based on openSUSE 12.3 which is fully based on systemd; any way of 'working around this' leaves you in 'the open' I'm afraid.
