zypper "dup" performs vendor changes while "up" sticks with a vendor.
Running 'zypper up' for years, since 2009, no 'zypper dup' at all. I think, I am in a good state.
And I have been using "dup" since first advised when Tw originated and that was the *advised* method. One could even specify individual packages and repos if desired. How many ways to skin a cat and which is correct.
Well, not quite. (about the cat skinning) "dup" also does downgrades, which are rare, but can still occur, and are more likely than the openSUSE vendor name change (which is not likely to occur anytime soon). Therefore, dup is a must-have if you want to go forward in the face of numbers going backward. (Other than manually doing zypper in -f ... to do the downgrades.) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
