It works until you get a runaway job. which cron is unable to track..even if you stop the cron daemon..it wont stop the processes it forked.
That's exactly like wanted. cron's purpos is to _start_ jobs but not stop them. Why on earth should it kill my programs just because crond is stopped or restarted? It would be as stupid as a shell always killing all childs on exit.
