When you and the package maintainer cannot agree, it is perfectly right when you do it on your own. I think there is nothing really wrong when openSUSE users and the openSUSE package maintainer cannot agree. I even know an example where I as cups package maintainer cannot agree with what some systemd guys would like to have (but not maintain) in our cups package ;-) This is a big advantage of the openSUSE Build Service: If needed openSUSE users can do things on their own and that even in a public accessible way so that also others can see what is going on and try it out / use it.
