I've often thought that the 'whole pile of knowledge to do anything' is the MS-Windows way and why they sell so many training courses. Linux, like UNIX, you can manage 'incrementally. You don't need to know eve5ything about systemd to use it, to manage it. About 80% of managing systemd involves, in my experience, which has grown considerably over the years as I use this, "systemctl".
