Hi!
With openSUSE 10.3 we want to try something different: have live CDs available already during beta phase, so as a start I created live CDs of the installation set of the i386 GNOME CD and i386 KDE CD (the final version might come with a live installer if it works out).
So please give these a try:

Report problems in this thread - this is a very first try of 10.3 live CDs, so we better wait for the beta with bugs :)
Alpha-7 KDE live on AMD XP2400 (32bit) / 512M RAM, nVidia based MoBo Really cool - but one or two things that could make it even cooler: 1. During boot, multiple errors from AppArmor and Fuse scroll by (I see something very similar with the normal Alpha-7 so probably not specific to the live CD). Worrying / confusing for a newbie. 2. Video & sound seemed to set up correctly but hard disc (also nVidia interface, I think) was not visible - even read-only. Should it be (if so I will find out what driver is required)? HD access would be nice... Even better if default to RO but permit RW somehow? 3. Very strange & probably confusing for a newbie to be prompted for network setup (even if they guessed teh password / saw this thread). Is it really neccessary? Can't YaST look for a DHCP server & only start the dialogue if one isn't found? Also might be nice to arrange for the splash screen to advise user of default root pw? 4. It would be invaluable to prompt for proxy config - especially if we're going to have a network setup dialogue anyway. 5. On exit, CD eject would be handy - it's locked until moments before power-down. More machines to test on tomorrow... Hope this helps. I repeat - it looks really great! -- Regards, Richard (MQ) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
