Especially after a version is EOL (For SLES15 that's after 2031) you might want to be able to update...
But that does not have to be a problem, or is the patch so ugly that nobody can estimate the side effects it will have?
Nah, it's a simple and predictable patch. It was shipped in Fedora for many years, and is present in RHEL 7's rpm as well.
