Nope.. no such feature exists unfortunately.. the only sort of thing that exists is a mechanism for providing shared libraries with or without particular CPU features enabled.. for example in factory you will find in /lib/noelision/ a version of libpthread without Intel TSX support, same can be done with other CPU features.
An extension that does not work correctly is enabled by default? How's that a good idea?
Back to SSE2 in i686: if that extension is not present or does not work correctly on all members of the i686 family of processors (that includes the Pentium Pro IIRC which had no SSE, much less SSE2), then it simply cannot be used for this architecture or must be guarded by feature checks. Anything else is a bug.
And please no comments about how old my computers are, I'm fully aware of that. They are still working just fine, doing what they've been doing for over a decade now. If I wanted to buy new hardware each time a new OS version rolled around, I'd be using Windows.
I really fully agree with this. Somewhere in the community process for 13.2 it must have been a discussion an decision in NOT supporting these CPUs any more cause in 13.1 it all works fine. Could someone explain please, why this decision was made i missed it somehow. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
