Also, use ext3, not xfs: it is difficult to find the lba; far from trivial.
How so? The inode number multiplied by the inode size generally yields the LBA where the inode lives.
My memory is fuzzy on this, but I think there is a thread on the xfs mail list asking about how to map sectors to files, nobody knows.
