=== Details ===
==== AppStream ====
Version update (0.16.3 -> 0.16.4)
Subpackages: AppStream-lang libAppStreamQt2 libappstream4
- Update to version 0.16.4:
* Features:
- Allow hyphens in the last segment of a component-ID
- Implement the developer element for unique developer IDs
- Add meson overrides
* Bugfixes:
- meson: Prevent building attempts with MSVC
- meson: Avoid potentially bad sed backup filename when fixing
.pc file
* Miscellaneous: Make sed invocation more portable
- Rebase patch with quilt.
==== bash ====
Version update (5.2.15 -> 5.2.21)
Subpackages: bash-doc bash-lang bash-sh
- Declare token YYEOF to be able to support older bison versions
as well
- Be sure to have a usable bison installed at build time
- Add upstream patches
* bash52-021
There is an off-by-one error that causes command substitutions to fail when
they appear in a word expansion inside a here-document.
* bash52-020
The parser did not allow `time' to appear as the first reserved word in a
command substitution.
* bash52-019
There are some cases where the shell reaped a background (asynchronous) job
and would incorrectly try to set the terminal's process group back to the
shell's. In these cases it never set the terminal process group to that
jobs's process group initially, so resetting it is incorrect.
* bash52-018
There are two problems with returning tokens to yyparse() when the shell
encounters a syntax error or when it reads EOF.
When reading a WORD token, the parser has to return the correct value to
yyparse. Previous versions returned a value < 0, which the bash parser
translated into YYERRCODE for bison, and in newer versions of bison, the
appropriate reset actions didn't happen. We should return YYUNDEF, which
bison uses for `invalid token'. Since we can return a token < 0 for both
invalid tokens and EOF, the bash tokenizer needs to differentiate between
those two cases.
* bash52-017
In certain cases, using the `.' builtin in a subshell would optimize away
the rest of the commands in the subshell.
* bash52-016
If an expression in an arithmetic for loop expands to NULL, the shell
would crash.
- Correct offsets of patches
* bash-4.3-sigrestart.patch
* bash-5.2.dif
==== bind ====
Version update (9.18.19 -> 9.18.20)
Subpackages: bind-doc bind-utils
- Update to release 9.18.20
Feature Changes:
* The IP addresses for B.ROOT-SERVERS.NET have been updated to
170.247.170.2 and 2801:1b8:10::b.
Bug Fixes:
* If the unsigned version of an inline-signed zone contained
DNSSEC records, it was incorrectly scheduled for resigning.
This has been fixed.
* Looking up stale data from the cache did not take local
authoritative data into account. This has been fixed.
* An assertion failure was triggered when lock-file was used at
the same time as the named -X command-line option. This has
been fixed.
* The lock-file file was being removed when it should not have
been, making the statement ineffective when named was started
three or more times. This has been fixed.
- Disable SLP by default for Factory and ALP (bsc#1214884)
==== createrepo_c ====
Subpackages: libcreaterepo_c1 python3-createrepo_c

- Fix an infinite recursion issue when finding runnable nodes
by stopping the scan on feedback links around the driver.
(#3621)
- The system service now has better socket permissions.
* Modules
- Add support for uclamp. This allows the scheduler to make
better informed decisions about where tasks should be placed,
and what pstate to set for the CPU it is running on.
- Emit warnings when applications are not doing the right
locking instead of crashing.
- Improve media.name for RAOP sinks. (#3801)
- Support pause/resume in pipe-tunnel. (#3197)

==== python-psutil ====
Version update (5.9.5 -> 5.9.6)
- update to version 5.9.6:
* Enhancements
+ 1703: cpu_percent() and cpu_times_percent() are now thread
safe, meaning they can be called from different threads and
still return meaningful and independent results.
+ 2266: if Process class is passed a very high PID, raise
NoSuchProcess instead of OverflowError. (patch by Xuehai Pan)
+ 2246: drop python 3.4 & 3.5 support. (patch by Matthieu
Darbois)
+ 2290: PID reuse is now pre-emptively checked for
Process.ppid() and Process.parents().
+ 2312: use ruff Python linter instead of flake8 + isort. It's
an order of magnitude faster + it adds a ton of new code
quality checks.
* Bug fixes
+ 2195, [Linux]: no longer print exception at import time in
case /proc/stat can't be read due to permission error.
+ 2268: bytes2human() utility function was unable to properly
represent negative values.
+ 2284, [Linux]: Process.memory_full_info() may incorrectly
raise ZombieProcess if it's determined via
/proc/pid/smaps_rollup.
+ 2288, [Linux]: correctly raise ZombieProcess on
Process.exe(), Process.cmdline() and Process.memory_maps()
instead of returning a "null" value.
+ 2290: differently from what stated in the doc, PID reuse is
not pre-emptively checked for Process.nice() (set),
Process.ionice(), (set), Process.cpu_affinity() (set),
Process.rlimit() (set), Process.parent().
- refresh skip_rlimit_tests_on_python2.patch
- drop removal of shebang: fixed upstream

==== rubygem-rails-html-sanitizer ====
Version update (1.5.0 -> 1.6.0)
- Updated to version 1.6.0
* Dependencies have been updated:
- Loofah `~>2.21` and Nokogiri `~>1.14` for HTML5 parser support
- As a result, required Ruby version is now `>= 2.7.0`
Security updates will continue to be made on the `1.5.x` release branch as long as Rails 6.1
(which supports Ruby 2.5) is still in security support.
* Mike Dalessio*
* HTML5 standards-compliant sanitizers are now available on platforms supported by
Nokogiri::HTML5. These are available as:
- `Rails::HTML5::FullSanitizer`
- `Rails::HTML5::LinkSanitizer`
- `Rails::HTML5::SafeListSanitizer`
And a new "vendor" is provided at `Rails::HTML5::Sanitizer` that can be used in a future version
of Rails.
Note that for symmetry `Rails::HTML4::Sanitizer` is also added, though its behavior is identical
to the vendor class methods on `Rails::HTML::Sanitizer`.
Users may call `Rails::HTML::Sanitizer.best_supported_vendor` to get back the HTML5 vendor if it's
supported, else the legacy HTML4 vendor.
* Mike Dalessio*
* Module namespaces have changed, but backwards compatibility is provided by aliases.
The library defines three additional modules:
- `Rails::HTML` for general functionality (replacing `Rails::Html`)
- `Rails::HTML4` containing sanitizers that parse content as HTML4
- `Rails::HTML5` containing sanitizers that parse content as HTML5
The following aliases are maintained for backwards compatibility:
- `Rails::Html` points to `Rails::HTML`
- `Rails::HTML::FullSanitizer` points to `Rails::HTML4::FullSanitizer`
- `Rails::HTML::LinkSanitizer` points to `Rails::HTML4::LinkSanitizer`
- `Rails::HTML::SafeListSanitizer` points to `Rails::HTML4::SafeListSanitizer`
* Mike Dalessio*
* `LinkSanitizer` always returns UTF-8 encoded strings. `SafeListSanitizer` and `FullSanitizer`
already ensured this encoding.
* Mike Dalessio*
* `SafeListSanitizer` allows `time` tag and `lang` attribute by default.
* Mike Dalessio*
* The constant `Rails::Html::XPATHS_TO_REMOVE` has been removed. It's not necessary with the
existing sanitizers, and should have been a private constant all along anyway.
* Mike Dalessio*
- Removed comparison against a very old ruby code no longer maintained
- Updated description in spec file

* The "dom0" option is now supported on Arm and "sve=" sub-option can be used
to enable dom0 guest to use SVE/SVE2 instructions.
* Physical CPU Hotplug downgraded to Experimental and renamed "ACPI CPU
Hotplug" for clarity
* On x86, support for features new in Intel Sapphire Rapids CPUs:
- PKS (Protection Key Supervisor) available to HVM/PVH guests.
- VM-Notify used by Xen to mitigate certain micro-architectural pipeline
livelocks, instead of crashing the entire server.
- Bus-lock detection, used by Xen to mitigate (by rate-limiting) the system
wide impact of a guest misusing atomic instructions.
* xl/libxl can customize SMBIOS strings for HVM guests.
* Add support for AVX512-FP16 on x86.
* On Arm, Xen supports guests running SVE/SVE2 instructions. (Tech Preview)
* On Arm, add suport for Firmware Framework for Arm A-profile (FF-A) Mediator
(Tech Preview)
* Add Intel Hardware P-States (HWP) cpufreq driver.
* On Arm, experimental support for dynamic addition/removal of Xen device tree
nodes using a device tree overlay binary (.dtbo).
* Introduce two new hypercalls to map the vCPU runstate and time areas by
physical rather than linear/virtual addresses.
* On x86, support for enforcing system-wide operation in Data Operand
Independent Timing Mode.
* The project has now officially adopted 6 directives and 65 rules of MISRA-C.
* On x86, the "pku" command line option has been removed. It has never
behaved precisely as described, and was redundant with the unsupported
"cpuid=no-pku". Visibility of PKU to guests should be via its vm.cfg file.
* xenpvnetboot removed as unable to convert to Python 3.
* xencons is no longer supported or present. See 5d22d69b30

This repo seems to have gone away:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/devel:/languages:/python/15.5
Now there is one for 15.6 instead.
I'll guessing that this is a mistake?

number but we should stick to the gstreamer-plugins-rs versioning
scheme.
- To see the changes between 0.10.11 and 0.11.2, please check:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gst-plugins-rs/-/blob/main/CHANGEL…
- Add a vendor-for-dav1d-1.3.0.tar.zst vendor file specifically
for Tumbleweed where dav1d 1.3.0 is used and is not supported by
the dav1d crate used in 0.11.2 by default, so in this manually
created vendor file, the dav1d 0.10 crate is forced.
- Add ix86 to excluded arches.

==== patterns-media ====
- Drop libpurple-meanwhile plugin from the DVD; as the
media-rest_dvd pattern was not installable for so long, some cruft
that has not been missing from the DVD has accumulated.
- Do not recommend 32bit libraries on the DVD, except glibc-32bit.
- Drop seamonkey from the rest_dvd pattern recommends: it did not
end up on the DVD anyway due to other locks.
- Drop hylafax as well: has not been on the DVD until below pattern
fix was merged.
- Also drop patterns-network_admin: quite large with nagios and
wireshark.
- Drop pulseaudio (which was missing for a while already) as we
switched long ago to pipewire.
- No longer require breeze5-wallpapers: this has been locked from
the DVD for a long time already, but the requirement here
actually makes the entire patterns-media-rest_dvd fall off the
DVD.

Hi,
Tumbleweed, up-to-date.
I'm using smb4k to mount remote cifs-shares via vpn.
Doesn't work with kernel 6.6.1, works with kernel 6.5.9
It seems there is an issue with cifs and kernel 6.6, see here:
- https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1217194
- https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=290342
While my error message in dmesg is different --
CIFS: Attempting to mount //sbsABCD/XYZ
[ 4722.266410] CIFS: VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -4
--
BUT if there really were an issue, there would be many reports. Maybe kernel
6.6.1 is too new?
Back on 6.5.9 for the time being.

Kind Regards,
Alexander

Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
We are slowly but surely reaching the end of the year 2023 with just
six more weeks to go. This week we had some minor glitches on the
publishing side: snapshot 1109 had been marked for publishing, but the
syncing never happened. As this was just over the weekend, nobody
noticed this until Monday, when the next snapshot was already pending
in the publisher queue (and also not going out). The issue was then
swiftly rectified with the help of the build service team. As a
consequence, only the four snapshots 1110, 1113, 1114, and 1115 have
been published. The changes from 1109 are not lost: they were still
present in the subsequently published snapshots.
The most relevant changes to report during this week are:
* Linux kernel 6.6.1
* KDE Gear 23.08.2
* KDE Frameworks 5.112.0
* Binutils 2.41
* gAWK 5.3.0
* PostgreSQL 16.1
* Mozilla Firefox 119.0.1
* libeconf 0.6.0
In the future – near or far – you can count on those changes to reach
you:
* GStreamer 1.22.7
* sudo: optional addon configuration for groups wheel or sudo (asking
for current user’s password)
* RPM 4.19
* dbus-broker as the default dbus daemon
Cheers,
Dominique

Dear list,
as indicated by $subject, I intend to start cleaning up our rubygem rpm
packages. The development project devel:languages:ruby:extensions grew
over the past decade into a huge mess with far too many outdated, no
longer building, uninstallable and downright broken rpms. This causes a
lot of strain on OBS as it rebuilds many unusable packages and for us to
keep packages building for questionable benefit. We (=the ruby team, at
this point that is darix and myself) cannot maintain the current state
anymore.
Therefore I plan to execute the following two phase plan.
Phase I - December 2023
-----------------------
Delete all packages from d:l:r:e that are not linked into another
project and that do not have a maintainer set (the project wide
maintainer does not count).
If you depend on a gem that is in d:l:r:e *only* and *not* in Factory,
please take over maintenance of it and consider sending it to Factory.
Phase II - January 2024
-----------------------
We will start deleting leaf packages in Factory that originate in
d:l:r:e and have no package maintainer set.
If you are depending on a rubygem being available as an rpm, then please
take over maintenance for it. Otherwise there is a certain risk that it
will be gone from Tumbleweed.
Thank you for your understanding,
Dan

Hi!
I have updated the python-antlr4-python3-runtime package to the latest upstream
version [1]. Unfortunately, the invocation of the testsuite somehow seems to fail
with unittest complaining about not knowing the command line parameters provided
by the RPM macro:

I update to TW 20231113 today which is using Kernel 6.6.1-1.1.
I am using VMWare WorkStation Player 17.5
The modules compile fine and then I sign them with my key and everything
works fine.
When I bring up a VM it also works fine until I attempt to shut it down.
At that point it starts the vm shutdown but then the process hangs.
At that point the journal has the following messages:
Nov 16 16:55:24 kernel: rcu: INFO: rcu_preempt detected
expedited stalls on CPUs/tasks: { 4-...D } 18235 jiffies s: 1213 root:

Nov 16 16:55:24 kernel: NMI backtrace for cpu 4 skipped: idling

TW becomes less responsive and I end up having to reboot.
Looking at the journal I found the following trace information after I
rebooted

==== openvpn ====
Version update (2.6.6 -> 2.6.7)
- update to 2.6.7:
* CVE-2023-46850 OpenVPN versions between 2.6.0 and 2.6.6 incorrectly
use a send buffer after it has been free()d in some circumstances,
causing some free()d memory to be sent to the peer. All configurations
using TLS (e.g. not using --secret) are affected by this issue.
* CVE-2023-46849 OpenVPN versions between 2.6.0 and 2.6.6 incorrectly
restore --fragment configuration in some circumstances, leading to a
division by zero when --fragment is used. On platforms where division
by zero is fatal, this will cause an OpenVPN crash.
* DCO: warn if DATA_V1 packets are sent by the other side - this a hard
incompatibility between a 2.6.x client connecting to a 2.4.0-2.4.4
server, and the only fix is to use --disable-dco.
* Remove OpenSSL Engine method for loading a key. This had to be removed
because the original author did not agree to relicensing the code with
the new linking exception added. This was a somewhat obsolete feature
anyway as it only worked with OpenSSL 1.x, which is end-of-support.
* add warning if p2p NCP client connects to a p2mp server - this is a
combination that used to work without cipher negotiation (pre 2.6 on
both ends), but would fail in non-obvious ways with 2.6 to 2.6.
* add warning to --show-groups that not all supported groups are listed
(this is due the internal enumeration in OpenSSL being a bit weird,
omitting X448 and X25519 curves).
* --dns: remove support for exclude-domains argument (this was a new 2.6
option, with no backend support implemented yet on any platform, and it
turns out that no platform supported it at all - so remove option again)
* warn user if INFO control message too long, do not forward to management
client (safeguard against protocol-violating server implementations)
* DCO-WIN: get and log driver version (for easier debugging).
* print "peer temporary key details" in TLS handshake
* log OpenSSL errors on failure to set certificate, for example if the
algorithms used are in acceptable to OpenSSL (misleading message would be
printed in cryptoapi / pkcs11 scenarios)
* add CMake build system for MinGW and MSVC builds
* remove old MSVC build system
* improve cmocka unit test building for Windows
==== osinfo-db ====
Version update (20230719 -> 20231027)

* util: gTLD data autopull updates for 2023-11-03T15:13:18 UTC (#1887)
* Add `torun.pl` (#1684)
==== python-alembic ====
Version update (1.12.0 -> 1.12.1)
- update to 1.12.1:
* Fixed regression caused by :ticket:`879` released in 1.7.0
where the ".info" dictionary of ``Table`` would not render in
autogenerate create table statements.
This can be useful for custom create table DDL rendering
schemes so it is restored.
* Improved typing in the
:paramref:`.EnvironmentContext.configure.process_revision_dir
ectives` callable to better indicate that the passed-in type is
:class:`.MigrationScript`, not the :class:`.MigrationOperation`
base class, and added typing to the example at
:ref:`cookbook_no_empty_migrations` to illustrate.
* Repaired :class:`.ExecuteSQLOp` so that it can participate in
"diff" operations; while this object is typically not present
in a reflected operation stream, custom hooks may be adding
this construct where it needs to have the correct
``to_diff_tuple()`` method.
* Improved the ``op.execute()`` method to correctly accept the
* ``Executable`` type that is the same which is used in
SQLAlchemy ``Connection.execute()``.
* Improve typing of the revision parameter in various command
functions.
* Fixed autogen render issue where expressions inside of
indexes for PG need to be double-parenthesized, meaning a
single parens must be present within the generated ``text()``
construct.
* Alembic now accommodates for Sequence and Identity that
support dialect kwargs.
This is a change that will be added to SQLAlchemy v2.1.

* A `:noreferrer` HTML scrubber which ensures all hyperlinks have `rel=noreferrer`, similar to the `:nofollow` and `:noopener` scrubbers. [#277] @wynksaiddestroy
- ## 2.21.4 / 2023-10-10
[#]## Fixed
* `Loofah::HTML5::Scrub.scrub_css` is more consistent in preserving whitespace (and lack of whitespace) in CSS property values. In particular, `.scrub_css` no longer inserts whitespace between tokens that did not already have whitespace between them. [[#273](https://github.com/flavorjones/loofah/issues/273), fixes [#271](https://github.com/flavorjones/loofah/issues/271)]
[#]# 2.21.3 / 2023-05-15
[#]## Fixed
* Quash "instance variable not initialized" warning in Ruby < 3.0. [[#268](https://github.com/flavorjones/loofah/issues/268)] (Thanks, [@dharamgollapudi](https://github.com/dharamgollapudi)!)
[#]# 2.21.2 / 2023-05-11
[#]## Dependencies
* Update the dependency on Nokogiri to be `>= 1.12.0`. The dependency in 2.21.0 and 2.21.1 was left at `>= 1.5.9` but versions before 1.12 would result in a `NameError` exception. [[#266](https://github.com/flavorjones/loofah/issues/266)]
[#]# 2.21.1 / 2023-05-10
[#]## Fixed
* Don't define `HTML5::Document` and `HTML5::DocumentFragment` when Nokogiri is `< 1.14`. In 2.21.0 these classes were defined whenever `Nokogiri::HTML5` was defined, but Nokogiri v1.12 and v1.13 do not support Loofah subclassing properly.
[#]# 2.21.0 / 2023-05-10
[#]## HTML5 Support
Classes `Loofah::HTML5::Document` and `Loofah::HTML5::DocumentFragment` are introduced, along with helper methods:
- `Loofah.html5_document`
- `Loofah.html5_fragment`
- `Loofah.scrub_html5_document`
- `Loofah.scrub_html5_fragment`
These classes and methods use Nokogiri's HTML5 parser to ensure modern web standards are used.
â HTML5 functionality is only available with Nokogiri v1.14.0 and higher.
â HTML5 functionality is not available for JRuby. Please see [this upstream Nokogiri issue](https://github.com/sparklemotion/nokogiri/issues/2227) if you're interested in helping implement and support HTML5 support.
[#]## `Loofah::HTML4` module and namespace
`Loofah::HTML` has been renamed to `Loofah::HTML4`, and `Loofah::HTML` is aliased to preserve backwards-compatibility. `Nokogiri::HTML` and `Nokogiri::HTML4` parse methods still use libxml2's (or NekoHTML's) HTML4 parser.
Take special note that if you rely on the class name of an object in your code, objects will now report a class of `Loofah::HTML4::Foo` where they previously reported `Loofah::HTML::Foo`. Instead of relying on the string returned by `Object#class`, prefer `Class#===` or `Object#is_a?` or `Object#instance_of?`.
Future releases of Nokogiri may deprecate `HTML` classes and methods or otherwise change this behavior, so please start using `HTML4` in place of `HTML`.
[#]## Official support for JRuby
This version introduces official support for JRuby. Previously, the test suite had never been green due to differences in behavior in the underlying HTML parser used by Nokogiri. We've updated the test suite to accommodate those differences, and have added JRuby to the CI suite.

Version update (2.0.2 -> 2.1.0)
- New upstream release 2.1.0, no changelog found
==== rubygem-msgpack ====
Version update (1.6.0 -> 1.7.2)
- 2023-07-18 1.7.2:
* Fix a potential GC bug when packing data using recursive extensions and buffers containing over 512KkiB of data (See #341).
* Fix a regression where feeding an empty string to an Unpacker would be considered like the end of the buffer.
2023-05-19 1.7.1:
* Fix JRuby 9.4 compatibility.
* Fix compilation on older compilers (gcc 4.x).
* Fix an infinite recursion issue when registering a Symbol type with a `nil` packer.
2023-03-29 1.7.0:
* Fix a possible double-free issue when GC triggers inside `_msgpack_rmem_alloc2`.
* `Unpacker#feed` now always directly read in provided strings instead of copying content in its buffer.
* `Unpacker#feed` is now an alias of `Unpacker#feed_reference`.
* Implement `Factory::Pool#unpacker` and `Factory::Pool#packer` to allow for more precise serialization.
* Require Ruby 2.5+.
2023-03-03 1.6.1:
* Undefine `#clone` and `#dup` on `MessagePack::Buffer`, `MessagePack::Packer` and `MessagePack::Unpacker`.
These methods were never intended, and using them could cause leaks or crashes or worse.
* Fix a possible GC crash when GC trigger inside `MessagePack::Buffer.new` (#314).

==== rubygem-rice ====
Version update (4.0.4 -> 4.1.0)
- ## 4.1
Rice 4.1 builds on the 4.0 release and has a number of improvements that both polish Rice and extend its functionality. However, there are three incompatibilities to know about:
* Exception handlers are now registered globally versus per module. This requires updating code that calls Class#add_handler to use register_handler instead.
* Rename Arg#isValue to Arg#setValue and then Arg#getIsValue to Arg#isValue
* Rename Return#isValue to Return#setValue and Return#getIsValue to Return#isValue
New or improved functionality includes:
* Add support for std::map, std::unordered_map, std::variant, std::monostate and std::reference_wrapper
* Enable calling of C++ member functions that are defined in ancestor classes
* Make it easy to wrap C++ iterators like std::vector begin and end
* Enable creating enumerators for C++ collections like std::vector and std::map
* Enable calling more Ruby API methods including those with a variable number of parameters such as rb_yield_values
* Add additional C++ to Ruby exception mappings (for example, std::system_error to SystemCallError)
* Updated documentation, including new pages for instance tracking, iterators, exceptions and newly supported STL classes
* Add support for calling Ruby methods with keywords from Rice::Object and its descendants
* Automatically translate C++ character arrays that start with colons to symbols (ie, ":mysymbol") when sending them to Ruby
* Add a constructor for Rice::Module that takes a name, to enable code like Module("Kernel")
* Fix comparison methods in Rice::Object, such as Object#is_equal, to return the correct result
* Fix various compiler warnings
* Remove deprecated APIs
* Remove support for Ruby 2.5 and 2.6 which are officially out of support
* Add support for building tests with CMake
* And lots of other fixes and code improvements
Rice also includes experimental support for instance tracking so that Rice maps the same C++ instance to the same Ruby instance each time it is passed to Ruby. See the documentation for more information.

Meeting minutes from a PM discussionabout community edition of ALP Dolomite and Marble
by Lubos Kocman 16 Nov '23

16 Nov '23
All meeting minutes can be found here:
https://etherpad.opensuse.org/p/ReleaseEngineering-meeting
## Attendees
lkocman, Sergio Ocón
Topic: community editions of SUSE ALP-based products Dolomite and
Marble
lkocman: current distribution list at https://get.opensuse.org/
lkocman: We have quite many distributions already and based on what I
see is that ALP Dolomite provides additional functionality on top of
ALP Marble (SLE Micro 6.X).
Sergio: The business story of ALP Marble (SLE Micro 6.X) is more of
embedded devices. While Marble would be more of the platform that you
would deploy for example on Raspberry PI or another container host.
lkocman: For me, it's getting very clear. The ALP Dolomite story is
essentially the same story that we currently market for Leap Micro. I'm
not aware of any existing embedded stories for Leap Micro where someone
from the community would use it in this way. The only interest was from
the Turris Omnia community
(https://code.opensuse.org/leap/features/issue/61). So as far as
community goes we market mostly single-node container hosts and
similar.
lkocman: One of the things that worries me is that we have Leap Micro
5.5 out and the support would be until the next-next release is out. I
suppose Dolomite 1.0 will not be out before mid-next year which is
quite long.
Sergio: You could migrate from Leap Micro 5.5 to 6.0 and then to
Dolomite something like 6.0.1
lkocman notes we'd have an issue with triple-digit versioning.
lkocman: We need to be careful about marketing messages, as we've
already confused users around Leap / ALP. A clear message is a must.
lkocman: Perhaps migrating out from Leap Micro 5.5 to 6.X and then
advertising that Leap Micro 6.X gains additional functionality from ALP
Dolomite 1.0 would be an understandable message.
Sergio questioned whether we could use Dolomite as a project name for
the community version. lkocman mentioned that if we want to claim that
Dolomite is a project that commercial distro is based on then, calling
Leap Micro 6.X Dolomite would be wrong. We don't base the commercial
solution on Leap Micro, but rather the other way around, as Leap Micro
is a re-brand of commercial offerings (e.g. SLE Micro). The community
project that the commercial solution would be based on is MicroOS.
