Hello, What else do I need to set to start mariadb[on system boot] on 13.1 milestone 4 new install. [opensuse-factory] Preparation of libquvi 0.9 submission

Good morning all, This is a heads up: I'm working on updating libquvi from 0.4.x to 0.9.x 0.9.x is of course ultimately supposed to become a stable 1.0 tree. according to [1], only few packages actually link to this library: * quvi (not surprising.. will also see an update to 0.9.x) * libtotem-plparser17 (The new version 3.9.5, for GNOME 3.10, is the trigger to the update) * libtotem-plparser-mini17 (The new version 3.9.5, for GNOME 3.10, is the trigger to the update) * grilo-plugin-youtube (seems to be indirect link only; will be checked by me) * grilo-plugins (seems to be indirect link only; will be checked by me) From that list, I don't foresee any fallouts for any other project / package, but please speek up now if you foresee any issues. Hi, during a check of os-release documentation, I realized there are plenty options we don't have in our /etc/os-release Most notable ID_LIKE, which is supposed to put the same name for close systems, where we should mention suse (or sles?). ID_LIKE="suse" There are few nice-to-have things as well HOME_URL=, SUPPORT_URL=, BUG_REPORT_URL= HOME_URL=https://opensuse.org/ SUPPORT_URL=?? [opensuse-factory] Cmake macros implementation

Hello guys, I got quite bored by fixing issues one by one adjusting spec files wrt cmake usage. Thus I went out and wrote cmake.macros for our beloved cmake and put it into my home project [1]. Basically now you just call %cmake -Dmydef=on -Dsomethingelselocal=/var/ instead of having to fiddle with all the variables yourself. And just for trivial and easy life i put there %cmake_install which wraps %make_install to reduce the commands for install phase. The implementation approach should probably be following: 1) this implementation should be submitted to factory 2) cmake should be linked to devel projects using cmake commands 3) %cmake_kde macro should be adjusted to just wrap the %cmake macro. 4) all specs should be tweaked to use the macro, some stuff might start fail becuase this added some enforcing on cflags (but it should be even less failures than we had now with update to 2.8.11.2) OPTIONAL) we could open maint. requests to put the macros to all supported product. [opensuse-factory] incomplete installation

Twice in less than two weeks, minimal X, HTTP method, first M3, now M4, installation proceeded uneventfully nearly to end, then aborted, sometime after /boot/grub/menu.lst was written, but before /root/inst-sys/ was created. System booted, but login failed until I replaced passwd and shadow files with those from another installation. Athlon XP 2400+ CPU, 1G RAM. I already downloaded on friday with no issues. Checksums verified too. Now preparing the Hard Disk Drive for clean install on hardware. This way it will make a real test drive for reference before Beta being released. [opensuse-factory] Qt5 and openSUSE

Hello, Qt 5.0 was released quite a while ago: the currently available version is Qt 5.1, with 5.2 on the horizon. In parallel, KDE Frameworks 5 development (KF5) has been slowly picking up steam. Given that: - Qt5 is incompatible with Qt4; - KF5 won't be released for a while; - Qt5 programs are also starting to appear; - We cannot overwrite people's installed Qt4; it would be very wise to have Qt5 co-installable with Qt4. It's not like people have been idle: shumski made quite an effort to make Qt5 coinstallable with Qt4, and made a SR (#182437) which, up to this day, for more than a month, was not reviewed yet. Then I see Kubuntu offering a way for people to develop Qt5 and KF5 with its Project Neon 5 effort[1], and since oS has the OBS, it would be a prime chance of taking advantage of that. While discussion on this specfic topic is off-topic for the Factory ML, the basic pre-requisite is to have co- installable Qt5 packages. Since that aside from the aforementioned SR the movement has been pretty much non existent, there are some questions: - What can be done to solve the impasse? - How can additional contributors help with this effort? This problem is going to bite us anyway in a number of months, so the sooner it is faced, the better.
