[opensuse-factory] bash extension: "command-not-found"

Hello all! During Hackweek I implemented project command-not-found for openSUSE [1]. You can look at the picture [2] to get the idea. In first example, user types "epihpany" instead of "epiphany" and handler suggests correct spelling. After this, user tries running epiphany, but it is not installed, so handler shows list of packages that provide this program. In the third example, user runs program that is not found, but package providing it is installed (meaning that program is not in user's path - probably intended to be run only by root). So my question is: do you want this functionality in openSUSE 11.0? If you would like to test this feature, packages are ready in BuildService [3] or you can download them directly from repository [4]. You have to also add these 3 lines to your /etc/bash.bashrc.local file (or ~/.bashrc): if [ -f /etc/bash_command_not_found ]; then . /etc/bash_command_not_found fi If you have any ideas or in case you have found a bug, I would be glad to hear from you. [opensuse-factory] Yast-gtk package selector status

I have just seen some screenshots of the "new and improved" package selector. If I see some slight improvements, it's still far from what it should have been according to the original idea presented here: http://blog.sukimashita.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/martin-package-selec… This nice, good looking and feature rich proposal became the following in alpha1: http://www.decriptor.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/packageselector1.png http://www.decriptor.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/packageselector2.png http://www.decriptor.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/packageselector3.png It definitely looks bad, and it doesn't seem to add all the functionalities YaST Software Management has in its Qt version. We discussed a lot about having a very similar interface on both desktop managers for YaST. This is not going in that direction, in my opinion, so it would be nice to have some clarification on the plans for openSUSE 11. P.S. Sorry for posting on two ML's, but the topic fits both. Hi, (first sorry for the cross post but I wanted to make sure that everyone related has a chance to get that). openSUSE 11.0 is planned to have Firefox 3 and therefore we will also have Gecko 1.9 for embedding purposes. So far that has been done using mozilla-xulrunner181 which now got a first mozilla-xulrunner190 successor snapshot available for testing in the buildservice (mozilla:beta). Probably maw will start soon to bring that to factory. The test package does not replace older xulrunner versions yet but will reset the /usr/bin/xulrunner link to the new version. It shouldn't be a problem to install it in parallel on 10.2, 10.3 and factory. One note along the line: Gecko 1.9 won't run on distributions older than 10.2 because of gtk requirements. Relevant changes for projects embedding gecko are that the pkgconfig files changed their names. There are now: libxul-embedding-unstable.pc libxul-embedding.pc libxul-unstable.pc libxul.pc mozilla-gtkmozembed-embedding.pc mozilla-gtkmozembed.pc mozilla-js.pc mozilla-plugin.pc I'm encouraging anyone maintaining a depending package to play around with that and report issues to bugzilla's openSUSE 11.0 Firefox component. Hi, Is there any chance that rsyslog ( http://www.rsyslog.com/ ) can become the default syslogd for the upcoming opensuse 11 release? >From the webpage ... Rsyslog is an enhanced multi-threaded syslogd supporting, among others, MySQL, syslog/tcp, RFC 3195, permitted sender lists, filtering on any message part, and fine grain output format control. ... Anyone has some success using zypper 0.10 to update the rest of the system? I have updated manually libzypp, zypper and yast2-core, yast2-qt, and other yast2 stuff related to updating. The idea was to obtain a working update stack. But the sw_single module doesn't do anything else besides loading the repositories and exiting nicely afterwards. "zypper update" says there's nothing to do.
