I've set up a print server based on Suse7.2 To save on disc space I'm using windowmaker, cups/kups and samba. I want the print queue to be visible so that kids can see the progress of their print job the screen goes blank after a few minutes of none keyboard use. I've checked the bios and apm and they don't seem to be responsible. Where do I look next? Dave Williams

Hum, this does not always work...the screen blanking is controlled from the kernel. The command "setterm -blank 0" might well work, assuming that your monitor does not use the Energy Saving feature...in which case this will also have to be turned off. Since you're using X you want to have a look at the manpage for xset. You can either turn off the power management stuff by putting: xset -dpms in .xinitrc Or you can change the blanking time: xset s 600 s blank eg. set it to 10 mins. I'd go for the latter. It will alert you to the fact that the child hasn't touched their computer for 10 minutes & you can then flog them or administer some other appropriate punishment ;-) -- Frank *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Boroughbridge.
