Im using Nymph thin client. I need to install java on to the servers and the only way i have of doing this is either ssh or vnc. I have the rpm of java but have no idea how to make it work only using the command line. I tried ./(filename) and got permission denied error. Although im root when i do this it shouldnt matter should it? Is there a command or switch im missing. Im sure its someththing very simple but im new to this. Ive only been us linux about 3 weeks. Any advice is welcome. Cheers -- Andrew Nix St Pauls Catholic High School Firbank Road Newall Green Wythenshawe Manchester M23 2YS tel: 0161 4375841 ext 168 fax: 0161 4982030

RPMs aren't programs and therefore can't be executed. do: rpm -Uvh filename (and check 'man rpm' so you understand what the U, v, and h options do) - -- Cheers, Chris Howells -- chris@chrishowells.co.uk, howells@kde.org Web: http://chrishowells.co.uk, PGP ID: 33795A2C KDE/Qt/C++ Developer: http://www.kde.org -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2-rc1-SuSE (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE++aS6F8Iu1zN5WiwRAvGyAJ9+64W9q7yjSFr/eD6hX9O9qoy3zgCgmitL oxQj+r3BcXwZEm12WNCHX38= =gMBF -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
