[opensuse-edu] Status 1.0 for openSUSE 11.0
Hi @ll, Andrea http://www.opensuse-education.org/download/test/11.1/ now contains updates for * gcompris (update to 8.4.12 including our patches for 8.4.11) * italc (italc-launcher patches) * kiwi-desc-ltsp (=> cyberorg ?) * wine-doors (desktop file translation fix) http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-edu/2009-03/msg00045.html has already a list, just to keep you updated what's changed comparing to the current official released version: - brainworkshop - exelearning - Scilab - geogebra - ktechlab - childsplay - gcompris - python-pygame - python-numpy - littlewizard - littlewizard-examples - ignuit - avogadro - solfege - atomix - controlaula - openadmin - stardict I'm currently just waiting for Andreas "Go" for scilab. I think all other issues are fixed with the current version, so we can finally release 11.1 as Gold if scilab is ok and nobody raises another problem. Hi @ll, Andrea

What can I say, if you ask me, I'd say include the packages available on the very last minute of building GM iso :) But I guess the packages that are in there at the moment would do, people wanting new features will surely find a repo from which to update. New exciting development over the weekend is http://en.opensuse.org/LTSP/Fatclient which can possibly be used to deploy LTSP load balancing/HA cluster very easily- http://en.opensuse.org/LTSP/Fatclient/Cluster Ciao -J -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-edu+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-edu+help@opensuse.org
GO!!!!!!! dependecie issues occurs with "frozen repo" not with OBS, that means you can go! 11.1 on the way :) Lars Vogdt ha scritto:

I have been following the developments in Linux-based education for some time now, but mostly out of curiosity. But now I have a more immediate need and interest, and am trying to find out a bit more about the "state of the art" in education packages specifically geared to teach traditional core (and enrichment as well, really) subjects in a self-learning, individually-paced environment. More specifically, I am trying to find the best choices, if they yet exist, for packages that not only meet those requirements, but also include, or are tied in, to a way for a parent to set assignments and measure progress. I have already d/l'ed several packages from the repository. Many of them are quite remarkable, but tend to assume a basic proficiency plus a willingness to RTFM in order to operate the package. The RTFM part is not an obstacle in our case, but I am trying to assist a bright, spatially- and video-game-oriented mid-teen who has the natural curiosity (plus a few Linux admin skills already). I realize that this is a bit different than the average post here, but I have already decided to base my efforts around an openSUSE platform, and hopefully, with open source s/w from the repository. I'd be interested in any information or comments on trying to go in this direction. -- dang dan stop goodman atsign coat stop com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-edu+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-edu+help@opensuse.org

GO!!!!!!!
DONE!!!!!!!!! :-) * replaced the current repo in http://www.opensuse-education.org/download/repos/1.0/11.1/ with our new RC3 release * created new ISOs: http://www.opensuse-education.org/download/ISOs/openSUSE-Education-1.0-for-1... (3.3 GB) (and *-SOURCES.iso containing just the sources) * created new (669 MB) delta iso: http://www.opensuse-education.org/download/ISOs/openSUSE-Education-1.0-for-1... I'm currently syncing the ISO to ftp.suse.com and preparing a mirrorbrain setup. Depending on the weather, this may take one or two days until everything is ready ;-) For me it currently looks like RC3 would become our "Goldmaster". The only thing that could prevent me from announcing it widely is https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=488338 - so please test the new ISO image and respond as soon as possible if the patterns are still not visible.
