Simple fix...text mode?
With the benefit of twenty twenty hindsight, I can see that I've been a bit stupid.... With the default set to init 5, I've screwed my X up. What, you've never (never) done that? How do I boot a RedHat 7.2 installation into text mode, so I can run Xconfigurator? Thanks in advance. -- Matt "broken linux box" Johnson __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE video emails in Yahoo! Mail! http://promo.yahoo.com/videomail/

Yup, but thankfully I knew how to fix it :)

Type 'linux 1' at the lilo prompt, where 'linux' is the name of the default kernel image. - -- Cheers, Chris Howells -- chris@chrishowells.co.uk, howells@kde.org Web: http://chrishowells.co.uk, PGP key: http://chrishowells.co.uk/pgp.txt KDE: http://www.koffice.org, http://edu.kde.org, http://usability.kde.org -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE8QbeRF8Iu1zN5WiwRAncFAJ9kULzYiGTlXLm9INkSDe5dT/aOgQCcC0ug MQYRyjNOZsdCu40whI463uU= =+y/t -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Which puts it into single-user mode. Type "linux 3" would be more useful, as it puts it into multi-user (fully working) mode, but without starting X. You can usually start up in single user mode by giving LILO the option "single". You may be able to start in a specific run leven by either "runlevel=3" or simply "3". If you are connected to a network you might also be able to connect using SSH. -- Mark Evans St. Peter's CofE High School Phone: +44 1392 204764 X109 Fax: +44 1392 204763
