[opensuse-conference] Sponsorship Brochure - benefits approved.
I'd like to ask Stella, Kostas, Izabel, Robert and all other opinionated people :D to have a look at the google doc with the conference sponsorship brochure and tell me if they are OK with this. The sponsorship levels and benefits are Ok'ed with SUSE now. Texts can of course still be improved. For the artwork people (esp Carlos and Anditosan as you already worked on this): I'd like to ask you then to take this text into a design. Please have a look at the examples I've send before (the awesome SCALE brochure) and the design example on page 3. Make it look pretty, guys :D Hugs, Jos -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-conference+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-conference+owner@opensuse.org

OK, text on pages 1 & 2 is ready to go. On page 3 I think we should remove the table (see comment in the document) as we do not need to re-iterate the sponsorship terms. The "confirmed sponsors" section should get a logo and some layout TLC. The idea of page 3 was to show page 1 as designed example. Hence the duplication... So the brochure should only have page 1 and two and in a wildly different design. The text can be shortened and adjusted (like I did in page 3) as long as it means the same.
The "confirmed sponsors" section should get a logo and some layout TLC.

If a sponsor chooses to have a booth why not? A boot is a good way for a sponsor to hand out stuff and start conversations that may not happen otherwise. Izabel had the idea to work with other FOSS communities as 'community partner' and have them run a booth at our event. She already contacted both GNOME and KDE and they liked it, most likely will have people at oSC. So, this will add a number of friendly project-people to our event. That does make it less of an insider-thing and I realize full well that this has implications for the event. Both pros and cons there. I personally am OK in both ways - a 'just openSUSE' event is, for me, just as OK as a more open event (which fits our tradition better, imho). I would say that Kostas and Stella have a strong say in this, as local organizers. If they feel strongly about this, let it be. Otherwise, we can see what everyone thinks. /J

Hi, I understand Henne concerns. We need that the event works to get our community much closer. Bringing third parties might distract us from that goal. On the other side, as a distribution project, we are integrators, so our nature is to bring other projects to our ecosystem. One of the challenges for the organization team will be to find ways of achieving both goals. This can be done by limiting the number of days the booth from non sponsors are available, or clearly separating areas, or..... Last year this issue was addressed by limiting the number of days the booths were available. Did it work? I assume there are different points of view. I have no clue how we will handle about that, but I like to remember
that I saw Izabel talking with the someone from Enlightment too
So in Fosdem I heard about to have GNOME, KDE and Enlightment at oSC13.
For us that are spreading the freedom of Desktop choice, I believe
will be good to have them over there.
Of course, I agree that we need to care a lot to not change oSC to
some general open source event ;-)

Really great design, I like it. The only issue I have is that as soon as I saw it, the first thing I thought was "we have WAAAAY too much text". The sponsorship brochure should be a teaser, give a place to start talking, give an idea of what the event is about etc. I have increased the font size on the google doc and managed to get it back to two pages. This should make it easier to fit it on the two pages without having to do horrible things to it or make it unreadable :D If you all don't like it, we can go back in time (google docs has revisions) so no worries. But keep in mind: less is more...

I'm with Jos. While I like the format of the final product the reduced text should make things look nicer. I made some minor changes to the reduced text and think we should run with the newer version of the text. Could you update this with the smaller/shorter text (on pag 1 and 2)? And pls get the source in GIT asap. We need this today in git, if possible. Then we need a PDF, put it on the website and then we're ready to publish the CfP tomorrow ;-)
Thanks for the work, Carlos!

Goodmorning! Quick question: If we go with 'Cornerstone' as our first level, what's SUSE's level gonna be? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-conference+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-conference+owner@opensuse.org

Lets stick to Gold, Silver, and Bronze please. No one wants to be a "building block".
