[opensuse-buildservice] enabling networking for workers

Hello All, I'm running a private instance and I'd like to enable networking on my workers so they can build some java apps, via maven, which need to download pom's/war's from the net. [opensuse-buildservice] Leap in OBS

I can see that some projects are already building for Leap_42.1, but it is not in the checkboxes on Repositories tab on OBS project page, and in advanced repo UI there are so many of them that it is quite confusing. [opensuse-buildservice] Ghost package

Hi. There is a ghost package in my OBS home project. I'm using the web interface, not the command line one. If you go to https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:jcsl:LXDE you can see the real 10 packages in the Packages box on left side, but if you look in the Build Results box, on the right side, you see 11 next to the "succeeded" text. If you then click the succeeded link you find the pcmanfm-1.2.0-beta1 package, and if you click on its link you get a Package "pcmanfm-1.2.0-beta1" not found in project "home:jcsl:LXDE", as expected. It even appears in the scheduled and building states when something I'm building triggers its build (I don't know how can this be). Any hints? In home:olh/build-compare a single _service file is enough to download the files required for the pkg. This works due to the flat layout of the source files. In openSUSE:Tools/build-compare a full checkout of the pkg exists, without _service file. This means one has to checkout the git repo, copy the files to the OBS checkout, then commit them to OBS. My idea to copy the _service file from home:olh into openSUSE:Tools appearently fails: broken: /usr/lib/obs/service/source_validators/60-spec-filelist: line 12: echo: write error: Broken pipe I wonder if such setup is supposed to work anyway? Should the server side download and extract the files, then copy them over the existing files after 'osc service rr'? If that is not doable each service has to be disabled and 'osc service lr && osc commit' has to be used. [opensuse-buildservice] how to configure available architectures in 2.6?

Hi, It looks like editing architectures has only a temporary effect. Doesn’t matter if I do that via osc api -e /configuration or via webui, the default architectures armv7l i586 x86_64 always appear again after some time. I found /srv/www/obs/api/db/seeds.rb # following our default config %w(armv7l i586 x86_64).each do |arch_name| a=Architecture.find_by_name(arch_name) a.available=true a.save end Is that the reason? [opensuse-buildservice] Donate CPU cycles to the OBS.

Hi. Just as is done in scientific and other kind of projects, is it possible to install a client that allows CPU cycles to be donated to the OBS? For example, my desktop is relatively powerful (Phenom 2 X6, 16 GB of RAM), and I currently don't perform intensive tasks on it. So I could donate those unused CPU cycles while you the computer is on. Many users complain of not being able to contribute to the project for various reasons. I think this would be a way to contribute and help improve the project because it would increase the processing power available for the various tasks that the project encompasses. For example, my desktop is relatively powerful (Phenom 2 X6, 16 GB of RAM), and I currently don't perform intensive tasks on it. So I could donate those unused CPU cycles while you the computer is on. Many users complain of not being able to contribute to the project for various reasons. I think this would be a way to contribute and help improve the project because it would increase the processing power available for the various tasks that the project encompasses. There seems to be a problematic category definition, the desktop file says: Categories=Education;Engineering;Science; and the spec %suse_update_desktop_file %{name} Education Science The openSuse 13.x builds do not complain, only Tumbleweed. I already tried removing the line from the desktop file but it did not help. I am grateful for any hints. Short version: please do not accept any submit requests or make any other changes to devel:languages:python until the following package has built at least once: python-jupyter_ipywidgets Long version: For the last 16 days I have been trying to get all of the core Jupyter packages in devel:languages:python and devel:languages:python3. Jupyter is a renaming and modularization of the enormously popular IPython project. This has been very slow going, because they split the packages into many parts, and these parts have a lot of dependencies (including quite a few new ones). These dependencies include many common python packages. That means that, in OBS, if any of these dependencies is changed in any way (or any of its dependencies are changeda, and so on), then everything is rebuilt from scratch. And unfortunately these new packages seem to be given a very low priority for building, which means it takes a long time before OBS actually gets around to building them. This means it is a process of: get a package in, wait 2 days for it to build, get another package in, wait 2 days for it to build, and so on for weeks. I have one more package to go: python-jupyter. Once it is in, the process is complete. For the last 4 days I have been waiting for the python-jupyter_notebook package to build. It had one dependency left before it was going to build, and then an submit request python-Cython was accepted. Since this is a dependency of all of the jupyter-related packages, everything will need to rebuild now. That may very well mean another 2 days wait for me. Until all of its dependencies have built at least once, I can't properly package python-jupyter. It will outright refuse to build. Of the two dependencies that have not built yet, python-jupyter_ipywidgets package is the most "leaf" one. That means that once it has built once, all of the other dependencies have as well. Hi, On OBS I have branched a package in order to submit a change request. However, the build of the package fails very quickly, making it impossible for me to test my change. The build log only contains a single line: could not retrieve ssl certificate: 400 remote error: Need an RSA key for openssl signing, please create a new key for home oreinert This seems like an issue with OBS? [opensuse-buildservice] Locales during build on Debian and Ubuntu?

Hi, I have a package which requires some locales (en_US.UTF-8 and de_DE.UTF-8) in the testsuite during build. Unfortunately those locales do not exist on Debian and Ubuntu per default. I have found commands to generate the locales but they need root permissions so I cannot include them in debian.rules. On Debian I can install locales-all but on Ubuntu that package is not available. How can I make those locales available during build on Debian and Ubuntu? Hi, In our private OBS instance often workers become unavailable and their state is reported as "discarded". I'm not sure, but it seems like one cause of this might be when OBS kills a job (like if sources change for the package being built). Just a moment ago a worker became discarded while it was doing a build for a package that we know for a fact had its sources changed during the build. This is what was on the worker's screen (some details obfuscated with %TOKENS%): [ 144s] qemu: terminating on signal 15 from pid 81153 [ 144s] No buildstatus set, either the base system is broken (glibc/bash/perl) [ 144s] or the build host has a kernel or hardware problem... 2015-08-19 09:59:26: build finished '%PACKAGENAME%-%PACKAGEVER%' for project 'home:%USERNAME%:%PROJECTNAME%' repository 'common_xUbuntu_14.04' arch 'x86_64' build discarded... umount: /var/cache/obs/worker/root_1: not mounted umount tmpfs failed: No such file or directory could not kill build in /var/cache/obs/worker/root_1/root The last line is repeated dozens of times, and the worker is hung. The only way I know to fix this is to restart all the workers with /etc/init.d/obsworker. Do you know why workers might hang in discarded states like this, and/or do you know how I can restart a single worker instead of all of them? Thanks. Hi, I am currently trying to figure out how to setup OBS 2.6.3. Since I failed to do so by installing from packages, I tried next using appliances. Hi, the netwwork:samba:TESTING/samba project failed to build till we added an line with %exclude /usr/lib/debug/.build-id to the spec. Shouldn't anything from this location be catched by the automatically created samba-debuginfo package and therefore not cause trouble like the seen one? This is how it works for network:samba:STABLE/samba (4.2.3) while the code in network.samba:TESTING/samba is 4.3.0rc3 based. Hi All, I am new to the openSUSE:BuildService at , so please excuse me if my questions are too basic. I was referring to the information at: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Build_Service_supported_build_targets and it seems that RHEL 7.1 on ppc64le is currently not a supported by this service. Do we have any plans of supporting this in the near future? I was also trying to build a package (nginx) on Ubuntu 14.04 ppc64le but the status is shown as "Excluded". Looks like there are no rules to build a debian package. I tried uploading a source package for nginx along with it .deb file in my project area and could build that successfully, but had to build the upload and build the missing dependencies recursively as well. Is there any specific repository of packages that have been tried/built on ppc64LE Ubuntu 14.04? Or would a package need to be built from scratch along with all its dependencies (recursively?)? Is there any document that can help understanding this? Any help/pointers on this would be of great help. Hi, I am rebuilding centos7 using a local openbuild service server, which version is 2.6.2. Both server and worker are sles11 sp3. First, I create a project names CentOS7, then put the content below to Meta sheet through web page. <repository name="standard"> <arch>x86_64</arch> <arch>i586</arch> </repository> Second, I connect the server, find the project repos, then create ":full" directory under x86_64 and i686 folder. After that, I copy all x86_64 and noarch rpm packages to x86_64/:full, i686 and noarch rpm packages to i686/:full. These rpm packages are from CentOS-7-x86_64-Everything-1503-01.iso Third, create another project names test, in its Meta I add below <repository name="standard"> <path project="CentOS7" repository="standard"/> <arch>x86_64</arch> <arch>i586</arch> </repository> Here comes my questions. 1. I uploaded gcc's source, but it can't be built. In x86_64 architecture the status is unresolvable with hint "nothing provides /usr/bin/pod2man, nothing provides /lib/libc.so.6, nothing provides /usr/lib/libc.so, nothing provides /lib64/libc.so.6, nothing provides /usr/lib64/libc.so" gcc.spec has BuildRequires that directly point to file like below BuildRequires: /lib/libc.so.6 /usr/lib/libc.so /lib64/libc.so.6 /usr/lib64/libc.so but openbuild service looks like can't analysis this kind BuildRequires, so I changed gcc.spec into BuildRequires: glibc(x86-64) glibc(x86-32) then hint changed into "nothing provides /usr/bin/pod2man, nothing provides glibc(x86-32)" looks like it can't find glibc-2.17-55.el7.i686.rpm which provides glibc(x86-32) Question: How can I find 32bit BuildRequires while build x86_64 rpm packages? 2. This leak exists in almost all OBS releases so far, esp. when using "patch" command version 2.7 or later, which introduced the git format patch handling. This issue is tracked as CVE-2015-0796. It was found by Marcus Hüwe. Thanks a lot for his work and the way he reported it, allowing us to fix this fast and properly. But to me, there was a drawback with it: it didn't allow user to trigger build *selectively*, for example, for master branch only, in order to save OBS servers from unnecessary work. Hi: I created an OBS project in Base:System called target-isns several months ago, imported from a public project of the same name. It has been building fine for all targets (SLE_11_SP3, openSUSE_13.2, and openSUSE_Factory) for a while now. But recently the Factory builds are failing, and it looks like the errors have to do with changes in the gcc library, particularly netdb.h. For example, this code uses gai_strerror(3), which the man page on my Factory system says is defined in netdb.h. This code includes netdb.h. But this function is showing up as undefined, cause several problems. What's the best way to fix this? It looks like the netdb.h file is part of glibc-devel. On my factory system, I have glibc-devel version 2.21, but it looks like the build of my Factory RPM used version 2.22. I can see that the latest glibc-devel version in OBS in 2.22, but how did the Factory system where my RPM is being built end up with the wrong (too new) version? And how to I ensure my build gets the right (older) version? I tried setting "BuildRequires: glibc-devel = 2.21", but that did not work. A Side Question: If I wanted to test on a local system using this newer glibc-devel package, how would I go about it? [opensuse-buildservice] Updating a branch when parent got updated

Linking to other project automatically updates/rebuilds when the parent package is updated, but when I'm choosing different target distribution then the whole linked project gets rebuilt, which I do not need and would like to avoid. When I'm branching a package, is there a way to sync the updates from the parent package? Hello everyone, I have setup a local private OBS and use the public OBS remote link to import my base linux projects. Now it can build rpm packages for many linux distributions just like the public OBS. As well known, everytime before obsworkers begin to work, OBS needs to download many rpms from remote machines to prepare the working environment for obsworkers. However, because of the network conditions of my company is not very good, it takes really long time to download those rpms. Now we have local servers which can provide any rpms OBS needs. I hope OBS can download them from my servers instead of remote machines? How should I modify the local OBS? [opensuse-buildservice] inadvertant project deletion woes

Dear Buildservice Admins, I suffer from the aftermath of a very stupid inadvertant preject deletion. Of course, I tried to undelete it there after, but the result is mostly incomplete: only 1/3 of the packages were restored, and even there, many are damaged, or just empty. home:frispete:python After restoring the build targets, I tried to undelete every single package, but only harvested all kinds of HTTP errors (400, 404). Now I started to relink the missing packages to devel:languages:python, but even that doesn't work: $ osc linkpac devel:languages:python IPython home:frispete:python Server returned an error: HTTP Error 404: package 'IPython' does not exist package 'IPython' does not exist Somebody is wrong here, either me, or build service? Whom to blame? Any help is highly appreciated. Hi, I have a case: conflict for provider of libgcc_s1 >= 5.1.1+r224716-2.3 needed by gcc5, (provider libgcc_s1-gcc5 is conflicted by installed libgcc_s1) I need to Prefer libgcc_s1-gcc5 but for a single package. Is it possible? Project is defaulting to gcc4.8 but gcc5 is available as well. The reason I need gcc5 for particular package is gcc-go. [opensuse-buildservice] why scheduled tasks not run on ppc64le builders ?

Hello there, At least for hours there are three schedules tasks (1) that are not dispatched on ppc64le builders (2) Why scheduled tasks not run on ppc64le builders ? Is there a scheduler problem in OBS ? How to track the reason why those tasks are not processed ? [opensuse-buildservice] Troubles building uw-imap for ubuntu in a standalone OBS

Hello, I'm using standalone OBS to build packages for ubuntu and currently trying to build uw-imap obtained from here http://packages.ubuntu.com/source/precise/uw-imap I satisfied all dependencies for it and even put some of them in Required field in the Project Config, it starts building, but at some point build fails with: [ 289s] devlibs error: There is no package matching [krb5-multidev] and noone provides it, please report bug to d-shlibs maintainer [ 289s] devlibs error: There is no package matching [libpam0g-dev] and noone provides it, please report bug to d-shlibs maintainer [ 289s] devlibs error: There is no package matching [libssl-dev] and noone provides it, please report bug to d-shlibs maintainer ..yet these packages are built and explicitly required by the project.
