[opensuse-buildservice] New Project "Archiving:Backup:Mindi"

Hi I want to create new project "Archiving:Backup:Mindi" to work together with the original auhors of mindi and mondo. With mindi and mondo it's easy to get bootable backup CDs/DVDs of your currently running system. So all you have to do after a desaster is inserting the first CD and say "Yes, please restore all my data". :-) ---- Another question, comming up with the project creation, is the "namespace" of projects. As you can see I try to use nearly the original RPM group of mindi and mondo. I think this could be a good way for such small projects - but perhaps we can discuss about a general naming scheme for projects? Or is this currently not needed? I want to add a package to project. How does it work? What's wrong with this procedure: 1. osc editmeta home\:keichwa and add '<package name="automake" />' 2. [Sorry for cross post, but these issues are appropriate to both MLs] Hi, when updating KDE from build service (which happens automatically here with yum), I suffer from some regular issues: - the qt3 db modules, although installed, do no load properly Fix: rebuild qt3-extensions Adrian, could this be automated in build service? Here's a test app to prove my claim: #include <qapplication.h> #include <qsqldatabase.h> #include <iostream> using namespace std; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { QApplication app(argc, argv); QStringList list = QSqlDatabase::drivers(); QStringList::Iterator it = list.begin(); cout << "Available Qt database drivers: "; while( it != list.end() ) { cout << *it << " "; ++it; } cout << endl; return 0; } - kdebindings3-python: doesn't bind qscintilla python binding correctly, which prevents eric from running. This package contains very old sip/PyQt and PyKDE modules. My fix is rolling my own with current packages, but this issue could be circumvented by build-requiring qscintilla for suse versions below 1010. Although buildservice offers KDE 3.5.4 packages, I didn't found it mentioned anywhere else. Is there something like release notes of even a detailed Changelog available somewhere about this [pre]release? Hello, I'm more or less new to this list, but tried to study the WIKI and the list-archive before issuing this proposal/questions: ----------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Enhance Release Tag: At the moment, the release-tag is automatically created as: Release = <SPEC-Version>.<Rebuild> Good. I propose, to be able to add an additional "tag" to the release, so that different packagers can be differentiated more easily by the filename of the package. Example: "xyz" and "mge" are both working on packages for "iozone". By accident, both reach build-level "3.42". An rpm-name of iozone-3.263-3.42.xyz.src.rpm iozone-3.263-3.42.mge.src.rpm is much better in this case. ----------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Add "distribution" to rpm-filename I know, that this is a somehow religious discussion, but I also know, that some people are used to do this, e.g. Pascal Bleser: I propose, to add a short-name of the distribution to each binary (or noarch) RPM, i.e. all RPMs but the src-RPMs. Examples: iozone-3.263-3.42.mge.sles09.x86_64.rpm iozone-3.263-3.42.mge.sles10.x86_64.rpm iozone-3.263-3.42.mge.src.rpm There is no need, to tweak the SPEC-files, if using something like this in "~/.rpmmacros" (or wherever): %TargetOS sles10 %_rpmfilename %%%{ARCH}/%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}.%{TargetOS}.%{ARCH}.rpm I agree, that this is not necessary, if one uses only yum or the like for updating a machine; but it becomes necessary, if you "by accident" have a mixed local storage. (And "by accident" happens, when you do not expect it, ...:-<) ----------------------------------------------------------------- 3. The empty packager-tag is beeing worked on, as I read. ----------------------------------------------------------------- 4. "Distribution" I did not find any information, how the "Distribution" will be look like. I guess, there are three options: a) something "generic", like: "openSUSE.org BuildService" b) the corresponding distribution Tag, e.g. "SuSE SLES-9 (i586)" c) free text Is there a proposal / decision for that? Hi, I would like to announce a new project named kiwi. With the buildservice everybody is able to bring in their individial pieces of software which is then available as packages. A set of packages makes up a distribution and kiwi allows you to setup your own distribution image. [opensuse-buildservice] some iddea for the buildservice

Gonna post this here if its alright with everybody (gonna post it even if it isnt). 1: Cyclic deps: As it is a package can trigger its own build by being newer (but the buildservice wont and give a cyclic deps issue) in gnome there is some part where this can hardly be avoided, basicly package X shouldnt be able to trigger its own build. tricky part is that it also have to track what was rebuild following this and ignore those for further rebuild too. 2: rpm/source backend: More of a question here are those there to allow futur use of local buildservice and sync those back to main server or is that some intern way to specify where one build his stuff on the system? I was thinking of installing a buildservice here once i get my new box then gonna be able to see much more clearly what my client do, as well as being much more pratical to build my stuff, i could prolly get my head arround doing some syncing stuff myself, but would be much more easier if server did that already (would allow peter to put it into his cli client too). 3: Add ProjectAdmin status to creator of project instead of Mainteneer: Add the admin status (i was already making my client so multiple user type can exist), user creating a project should be marked as admin and be allowed to erase the project themself (don't beat me if it's already somewhere in some todo but see too many people asking in here please erase this and that). 4: Add a Contributor user type: Contributor should be allowed to edit a package in a project and only that package not whole project. that would be it for now.

is there a way to get a package list of a Build Repository? I want to build something using qt-devel, but that package does not exist in Mandriva, Fedora, Debian - I would need to know the package list, so I can find out that e.g. qt3-devel is available.
