[Bug 257329] New: GIMP terminates when trying to open very large JPEG
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=257329 Summary: GIMP terminates when trying to open very large JPEG Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: christian_haegele@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de When trying to open a very large JPEG (60000 x 10800 Pixel) in GIMP the programm terminates and gives the following message on the console: GLib-ERROR **: gmem.c:135: failed to allocate 4096 bytes aborting... (null): terminated: Abgebrochen (script-fu:4252): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: script-fu: wire_read(): error I am using GIMP 2.2.13 and the regular Glib 2.12.4 shipped with openSuse 10.2 (64 Bit). My System is an AMD Athlon64 3200+ with 1GB RAM. I read about this bug already on bugzilla.gnome.org that this is happening when there is not enough memory. But a program termination without any further notice is not an option. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Gimp can also use the try alloc api to check for size. Try the gimp-unstable package for 10.2 to see if that handles it better, otherwise its best to let the gimp team sort this out upstream. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
