After I cleaned the activated extensions key in dconf (to remove the alternate status menu that isn't installed any more but was still in dconf...) the extensions would remain activated on login and boot, but they still disappear on unlock. restarting the shell brings them back (ALT+F2, r) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. leave screen inactive or lock screen 2. unlock screen 3. I applied the patch to my gnome-shell installation and it seems to fix the problem. Despite the bug being reported against GNOME 3.6 (in November 2012), it has only been fixed in October 2013, AFTER the 3.10 releases of GNOME... so, not really a regression, just never ever fixed for good I'm afraid (until official GNOME 3.12).
