Use case of:
parallel-installable versions of libraries: Install a package for old distro.
Get an old version of required package, install it in parallel with the new
one. This works for most libraries (if developers follow shared library naming
policy and libraries can have more instances). To provide this on packages
level, we need to follow shared library packaging policy.
parallel-installable versions of devel packages: Install a package which needs
an old epoch package. Get this old version of the devel package library,
install it in parallel with the new one. This works for well designed projects
(e. g. for gstreamer, glib, gtk+ and large parts of GNOME).
In case of gstreamer it is a bit more complicated - there are three levels of
compatibility - 0_10-0 (shared libs), 0_10 (plugins, binaries), none (symlinks)
