[Bug 443118] New: fixed ports for nfsserver-lockd and quotad
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=443118 Summary: fixed ports for nfsserver-lockd and quotad Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: vogt@itwm.fraunhofer.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Hello, the nfsserver randomly chooses rpc ports for lockd and quotad. This can be a major problem if the nfsserver crashes and the clients still hang on the wrong port.(after reboot) (NFS hangs->client machine hangs) I would propose a patch similar to this, where the configuration for the ports is /etc/sysconfig/nfs This is a hack which I usually apply to my nfsservers: modprobe nfsd if [ -n "$LOCKD_TCPPORT" ]; then /sbin/sysctl -w s.nfs.nlm_tcpport=$LOCKD_TCPPORT >/dev/null 2>&1 fi if [ -n "$LOCKD_UDPPORT" ]; then /sbin/sysctl -w s.nfs.nlm_udpport=$LOCKD_UDPPORT >/dev/null 2>&1 fi service nfsserver start if [ -z "$RQUOTAD_PORT" ] ; then service quotad start > /dev/null 2>&1 else /usr/sbin/rpc.rquotad -p $RQUOTAD_PORT >/dev/null 2>&1 fi It could be done better,ok, but you you get the idea what I actually mean :) Note: this is usefull to protect an nfsserver with a firewall too. regards, Martin -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
