[Bug 731289] New: KMail migration fails -> unable to import old mail
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731289 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731289#c0 Summary: KMail migration fails -> unable to import old mail Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: riggwelter@opensuse.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I was previously using KDE 4.7 from the OBS on 11.4... When I started KMail for the first time on 12.1, I was prompted to migrate my data. I backed it up and did so but the migration failed. I can't re-run it as apparently the migration of kmailrc has already run. I recreated my IMAP accounts and tried to import my old maildir structure (containing over ten years' worth of mail) but KMailCVT just keeps hanging - sometimes before even starting to import. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It may be a good idea to nuke the soprano/virtuoso database/setup as well, but I have not tried that yet.
This turns out to have been a crucial ingredient for me. The database resides in ~/.kde4/share/apps/nepomuk/repository/main/data/virtuosobackend -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

If you have a KMail maildir with mbox files in a folder structure,
could you please clarify what this means on an example - my old mail inbox seems to be a file not a directory with "cur", "new", "tmp", I have: -rw------- 1 mzimmermann users 203479897 Nov 25 09:36 inbox drwxr-xr-x 14 mzimmermann users 4096 Mar 30 2011 .inbox.directory -rw------- 1 mzimmermann users 2070023 Nov 12 16:25 .inbox.index -rw------- 1 mzimmermann users 18229 Nov 12 16:25 .inbox.index.ids
these seem not to import at all or only the folder names.
I have only directories imported , not a single old email. Is that what you meant, and id there a solution? thanks -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
