Launching firefox showed that all extensions were available. Then I called yast online update again triggering the update 3.0.16 -> 3.0.17 of firefox. Re-launching of firefox showed that all extensions were still available. Hence, I am not able to reproduce the problem. @Wolfgang: ~/.mozilla/firefox/PROFILE/extensions was not removed by the update.
