Also give e.g. hwinfo and alsa-info.sh (run with --no-upload option) outputs, at least. You're plugging to the headset jack of the laptop, and not to the docking station port or such? In anyway, this sounds more like a PA issue, not the driver issue, as manual configuration works. At most, there might be a missing jack notification.
