[Bug 621503] New: HPLIP wrong version for HP Laserjet F4580 in wifi configuration.
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=621503 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=621503#c0 Summary: HPLIP wrong version for HP Laserjet F4580 in wifi configuration. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: RC 2 Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Printing AssignedTo: jsmeix@novell.com ReportedBy: m.j.thate@tele2.nl QAContact: jsmeix@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; nl; rv:1.9.2.4) Gecko/20100611 SUSE/3.6.4-3.2 Firefox/3.6.4 Installing my HP Laserjet F4580 printer in wifi configuration is not yet possible with HPLIP. I think this is caused by the old HPLIP version of 3.10.2-1.10 in openSUSE 11.3. The newest version is 3.10.5 But when I tried this HPLIP misses (omongst others I think): gcc, make, python-devel, cups-devel, and libusb. I found all the right files but not for libusb so there stops my HPLIP story. I suppose this will be solved after the definite 11.3 has been released. Please arrange it with hplipopensource.com the same way UBUNTU does. The missing files are downloaded automatically after activation of the right HPLIP version. A request for a package version upgrade is no bug.
The "HP Laserjet F4580" is not listed at http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/supported_devices/combined.html so that it is uncertain if it is supported with version 3.10.5
Please contact HP directly via http://hplipopensource.com to find out if your printer is supported at all.

There is also no "Deskjet F4580" listed at http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/supported_devices/combined.html
Only a "HP Deskjet f4500 All-in-one Printer Series" is listed which should be supported since HPLIP version 3.9.10 but the column "Network or JetDirect" states explicite "No" so that from my point of view there is in particular no support for connection via Wi-Fi.
In case of doubt, you may ask HP directly e.g. via http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/support.html
