[Bug 345157] New: Suspend-to-disk often locks at 20% whithout any log
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=345157 Summary: Suspend-to-disk often locks at 20% whithout any log Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mdalco@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer Hello, I have a Dell notebook with Intel Santa Rosa chipset and an NVidia graphics card. With OpenSuse all works fine out of the box, also the NVdia driver added through NVidia repository. Only suspend-to-disk very often (approximately every 2 or 3 suspend cycles) freeze during the suspension process, after the 20% of progress bar was consumed with a completely black screen and stopping any disk activity. The only way to turn off the notebook is holding the power button or removing the battery. When all goes well, after this step, the display goes almost black with a green preogress bar that show the completion of the progress, then the notebook switch off. Unfortunately after these freezes the /var/log/pm-suspend.log file is empty and the only error that appears in /var/log/messages is something like this: Nov 29 17:13:57 portatiledell kernel: PM: Writing back config space on device 0000:09:00.0 at offset 1 (was 100506, writing 100106) Nov 29 17:13:57 portatiledell kernel: bridge-eth0: disabling the bridge Nov 29 17:13:57 portatiledell kernel: bridge-eth0: down Nov 29 17:13:57 portatiledell dhclient: caught deadly SIGTERM Nov 29 17:13:57 portatiledell dhclient: could not restore resolv.conf: No such file or directory Nov 29 17:13:57 portatiledell avahi-daemon[3057]: Interface wlan0.IPv4 no longer relevant for mDNS. Nov 29 17:13:57 portatiledell dhcdbd: dhclient 31490 down (9) but si_code == 0 and releasing==0 ! Nov 29 20:11:24 portatiledell syslog-ng[2567]: syslog-ng version 1.6.12 starting I tried a lot of solutions... Supposing that was a network problem I added the wlan module to these that should unloaded before the suspension (in /etc/pm/config.d/modules I added SUSPEND_MODULES="iwl3945" ), then I disabled the internal NIC via Bios and I put an rcnetwork stop in an /etc/pm/sleep.d/00aswitch script. I also applied the OpenSuse NVidia suspend HowTo (http://en.opensuse.org/NVidia_Suspend_HOWTO ) and I tried to switch to console before suspend with the above script: #!/bin/bash case $1 in hibernate|suspend) chvt 1 rcnetwork stop ;; thaw|resume) rcnetwork start chvt 7 ;; *) ;; esac But nothing really solve the problem! The suspend-to-disk still works freezing it up each 2 or 3 times. My question is: how I can figure me out where is the problem? Is an NVidia issue or I need to investigate something other? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
