[Bug 332386] New: unable to install OR upgrade over 10. 2 on working hardware
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=332386 Summary: unable to install OR upgrade over 10.2 on working hardware Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jnelson-suse@jamponi.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- I have an IBM NetFinity P40 (or something like that). It's been running 10.2 (and others before that), and I tried to use the network install CD to upgrade it to 10.3 However, it found no hard drives whatsoever. It tried to use the piix_ata driver, I think, and there was an error message about it timing out. I tried unloading that module and loading piix but that didn't work (no /dev/hd* nor /dev/sd*). This prevents me from upgrading this machine, unfortunately. Attached is the output of 'hwinfo --ide --pci' from 10.2: 11: PCI 00.0: 0600 Host bridge [Created at pci.286] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_8086_1130 Unique ID: qLht.v_Y7QGTsQ_D SysFS ID:
