I did try installing 11.1 Alpha 1 but there seems to be issues with the bootloader, it obliterated my dual boot Vista partition, so I was unable to run it. Hence my mention of Alpha 2, fingers crossed that issue will be fixed by then. All I know to do is select 3 from the Grub menu and then change the driver using sax2. Even then the only choices I know of are radeonhd, fglrx and vesa. I also tried downloading the ATI Catalyst upgrade in ubuntu and then copying the file over to the Opensuse partition and then running the CLI install commands from the Boot Level 3 command prompt. The upgrade failed though. It is just that the drivers you refer me to are rpm and I don't know if they can be downloaded as a file and then installed using CLI? i thought that had to be done under a Package Manager? i tried installing Alpha 1 and it trashed my Vista partition, twice. I downloaded the .rpm in Ubuntu and copied it over to the Opensuse partition. Then level3 boot into Opensuse, run the file as per your instructions. It seemed to go ok, the text runs off the screen with no screenwrap so hard to be sure. It ended with the line 1.org-x11-driver-video-F ############100% Using sax2 I enabled the radeonhd driver and rebooted. For this, we need a very recent driver. @Stefan: Could you please provide an update package with a very recent driver? @Rowdy: could you please install this driver, add the line: Option "AtomBIOS" "pll=on crtc=on output=on" to the 'Device' section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf (using a text editor), and try if it works?
