[Bug 332513] New: usb udev default rule is not working correctly
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=332513 Summary: usb udev default rule is not working correctly Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Hotplug AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: kra@ecolog.at QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer in opensuse10.2 the program lomoco could be called by any user. lomoco is a small utility to configure logitech usb-mice. in opensuse10.3 this program doesn't work any more coz everything under /dev/bus/usb/ ist root-only writeable. but when a logitech usb-mouse is plugged in, a ordinary user should be able to write to the correspondig file under /dev/bus/usb/. this is not possible any more. i think this comes from the rule "# libusb device access" in then file /etc/udev/rules.d/50-udev-default.rules. as a workaround i changed the line from SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ACTION=="add", ENV{DEVTYPE}=="usb_device", NAME="bus/usb/$env{BUSNUM}/$env{DEVNUM}", MODE="0644" to SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ACTION=="add", ENV{DEVTYPE}=="usb_device", NAME="bus/usb/$env{BUSNUM}/$env{DEVNUM}", GROUP="users", MODE="0664" but i don't know if that hase some side-effects..... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The udev file is supposed to call lomoco to apply the system wide setting
which it does NOT.
The fdi file is supposed to in the end cause resmgr to grant your user
which it does NOT.
permissions so you can run lomoco yourself. There are indeed two separate and independent bugs.
ok, than this bug here is about the fdi file, and bug #332506 is about the udev file. the whole thing (both scripts/files) don't work as they should. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
