Yet the command /bin/ls -l /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/CID/ gives: total 16 drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 144 2006-07-31 21:01 Adobe-CNS1 drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 144 2006-07-31 21:01 Adobe-GB1 drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 144 2006-07-31 21:01 Adobe-Japan1 drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 144 2006-07-31 21:01 Adobe-Japan2 drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 144 2006-07-31 21:01 Adobe-Korea1 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4586 2006-07-31 21:01 encodings.dir -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2 2006-07-31 21:01 fonts.dir -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2 2006-07-31 21:01 fonts.scale -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 2006-07-31 21:01 fonts.scale.auto This appears to be a perfectly good font directory. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Anyway, do you really want to do CID font rendering? I doubt it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=209394 mfabian@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|RESOLVED |REOPENED Resolution|WONTFIX | ------- Comment #2 from mfabian@novell.com 2006-10-11 09:01 MST ------- Xnest supports rendering of CID keyed fonts the same way the regular X-server does. I guess you don't have any of the CID-keyed font packages installed. What you list with 'ls' in your initial comment is probably just an empty directory structure without any fonts in it. If you install some of these packages CID-keyed-fonts-MOE-20021114-216 CID-keyed-fonts-Munhwa-20021114-216 CID-keyed-fonts-WadaH-20021114-216 CID-keyed-fonts-Wada-20021114-216 (plus the package "ghostscript-cjk" which is required by the above packages) and run "SuSEconfig --module fonts" afterwards, you should have something in these directories and it should work. For example, xfd -fn -adobe-munhwa-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso10646-1 -display :2 will then display something (Xnest started using display :2 in this example). Unfortunately the rendering of CID keyed fonts is currently broken in X11, it will display something but it doesn't look right. All glyphs are mirrord and many pixels are missing. See the screen shot which I will attach in the next comment. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=209394 ------- Comment #3 from mfabian@novell.com 2006-10-11 09:03 MST ------- Created an attachment (id=101232) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=101232&action=view) cid-keyed-font-rendering-broken.png screen shot which shows that the rendering of CID keyed fonts is currently broken. The font used is from the package CID-keyed-fonts-Munhwa-20021114-216 and displayed with xfd -fn -adobe-munhwa-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso10646-1 -display :2 This screen shot is from Xnest but this bug is *not* related to Xnest, one can reproduce it the same way on a "normal" X-server. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=209394 ------- Comment #5 from novell@skewray.com 2006-10-15 20:29 MST ------- The comment from Mike Fabian is correct; I got an error because the directories in question were all empty. Installing the Chinese fonts fixed the problem. Attempting to run xfd in Xnest gave an error, however: BadAlloc Opcode 45 (X_OpenFont) Serial # 46 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
