[Bug 772183] New: KDE can't handle NFS mounts
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=772183 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=772183#c0 Summary: KDE can't handle NFS mounts Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: RC 1 Platform: HP OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: franzmach@yahoo.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0 When creating a desktop icon-link to an NFS mount defined in /etc/fstab the icon is not working as it should. When clicking the icon the partition is actually mounted correctly but KDE gives no feedback about it nor opens the mountpoint in file manager. Clicking again on the again shows the error "Device is busy or already mounted". The mounted state of the device is not recognized, regardeless if you mount using the icon or in the terminal. mount/umount in terminal (with user priv) works without any issues. I suspect that this has something to do with mounting nfs over udp because this caused already problems in openSUSE 12.1 where the KDE nfs mount icon interpreted the udp warning message as error and refused to open the mountpoint in filemanager. Now it seems that this happens silently without showing the error message box. However in openSUSE 12.1 it was possible to mount the shares using the panel integrated device manager and I could live with that. In 12.2 RC1 the device manager is not recognizing the available nfs shares. In openSUSE 11.4 everything works (using same fstab lines and same NFS source). /etc/fstab 192.168.0.100:/mnt/data /opt/sin/data nfs rw,noauto,users,noexec,rsize=1024,wsize=1024,timeo=14,intr,udp 0 0 192.168.0.100:/mnt/bkup /opt/sin/bkup nfs rw,noauto,users,noexec,rsize=1024,wsize=1024,timeo=14,intr,udp 0 0 PS: Yes, I know that nfs over udp is not recommended but I am using NAS boxes with proprietary software and have no choice except preventing packet fragmentation by adjusting the rsize or using jumbo frames. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. create an NFS mountpoint using udp protocol 2. make an KDE4 desktop link to this mount 3. click on the created icon Actual Results: No feedback if the mount succeeded or failed. In fact it is mounted and you can access it manually. Expected Results: Notify of sucesfull nfs mount and popup of the mountpoint in kde filemanager. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
