https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=384702 User sven.burmeister@gmx.net added comment https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=384702#c1 Summary: externale harddisk (firewire) fails Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sven.burmeister@gmx.net QAContact: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- I have an external harddisk attached via firewire, which works fine with 10.3. The harddsik turns itself on/off automatically. It is not part of fstab. When booting 11.0 the harddsik starts and, after the errors are reported in the terminal, tunrs itself off again, because it is not used.
From the boot-log:

If the harddisk turns itself on during booting and off again, because of a/this bug, turning it off, even unplugging the power and then turning it on again does not trigger any mounting or output in dmesg.
No output at all --- that's a rather low-level problem. Please check the output of $ grep ohci1394 /proc/interrupts $ grep . /sys/bus/ieee1394/devices/fw-host0/* issued immediately before and shortly after you power-cycled the disk while it was unrecognized. Also, please report the exact model designation of the disk. If possible, provide also a link to a web page which describes the disk (manufacturer or reseller site). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
