[Bug 937065] New: ntp doesn't start up correctly after the update to v4.2.8p2
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=937065 Bug ID: 937065 Summary: ntp doesn't start up correctly after the update to v4.2.8p2 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 201505* Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: Stromeko@NexGo.DE QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- The ntp startup scripts do not work correctly anymore after the upgrade to the v4.2.8p2 version. Since at least start-ntpd still uses the (long deprecated) ntpdc program, the config needs to include an enable mode7 to allow communication between ntpdc and ntpd. Even after this, trying to do an "addserver" still produces a "*** Permission denied" response. This prevents the addition of the timeserver offered via DHCP. I've tried to re-create the /etc/ntp.keys file to no avail. Furthermore, at least external servers configured in the /etc/ntp.conf are ignored on the first startup. For each such server I have to re-start ntpd so they get actually used. Once all servers are added, ntpd runs as expected. Lastly (and maybe related to the strange behaviour with servers), adding "pool" instead of "server" associations doesn't work at all and no time source ever gets added. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
