Just for testing purposes, I got rid of the symlink I established manually, and the command you suggested. I copied and pasted it into a text file and run "sh myscript" as root. It did say that it was updating the system in texlive, but it didn't solve the problem, the link was not restored.

as I guessed above the trigger scripts may fail, see one of them /var/lib/texmf/link/i586-linux/base: #!/bin/sh CWD=$PWD test "$CWD" = "/" || CWD=${PWD}/ PATH=${CWD}bin:${CWD}usr/bin:${PATH} TARGET=i386-linux CPU=$(uname -i|tr '[:upper:]' '[:lower:]') OS=$(uname -s|tr '[:upper:]' '[:lower:]') set -- ${CWD}usr/bin/../lib/texmf/bin/* test "${TARGET}" = "${CPU}-${OS}" -o $# -eq 1 || exit 0 ln -sf ../lib/texmf/bin/i586-linux/afm2pl ${CWD}usr/bin/afm2pl || true for 32bit user space and 64bit kernel space this fails. If you switch over to the latest texlive-2010 from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Publishing/openSUSE_11.3/ this problem should not occur. but be aware you have to update both the binary as well as the noarch packages. Even more not only the version but also the release numbers of the e.g. texlive and texlive-bin have to identical. Does this work for you? If so this bug is a duplicate of bug #608636 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
