with Plasma 5 KDE what used to be a "Task Bar" is now the "Panel"
No. Nothing has changed in this regard. What is called "Panel" now was already called Panel in KDE4 (Plasma1). It might have been called "Task Bar" in KDE3 10 years ago...
and, the "System Tray" is the Widget which contains things such as "Touchpad", "Kate Sessions", Printers" and so on - the description is "Access hidden applications minimised in the system tray".
I know what the system tray is. But I am not sure what you mean with that the system tray has a wrong icon. So you do mean the icons displayed in the system tray? Well, that *is* exactly the same as Bug#943688 then. I repeat: those icons are taken from the *desktop theme*, not the icon theme. You need to change your *desktop theme* to get different icons in the system tray. And the logout/reastart/shutdown icons in the logout_log applet and the application menu are taken from the *desktop theme* as well. (In reply to Donald Curtis from comment #6)
Despite installing oxygen5-icon-theme-scalable (326.6 MiB installed size) this issue remains.
Of course. The package oxygen5-icon-theme-scalable contains the icon theme. But those icons are taken from the *desktop* theme, as mentioned. If you think specific icons should rather be taken from the icon theme instead of the desktop theme, please report that to the KDE developers at http://bugs.kde.org/. This is not something we will (or IMHO should) change in openSUSE. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

A suggestion for a panel discussion at the openSUSE Conference in June: "To Breeze or not to Breeze – that is the question; whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the outrageous fortune of Oxygen, or to take arms against a sea of Themes, and by opposing end them?"
Donald, Whatever that panel would decide or indicate, it is the wrong place to
discuss this. openSUSE is not the one who maintains Plasma, nor the Oxygen and
Breeze themes.
As I indicated before already, the Oxygen desktop theme does not provide icons
for the plasmoids and the systray. Therefore the fallback icons are being used,
which for Plasma5 is the Breeze theme.
You are free to select any other desktop theme and maybe those would provide a
corresponding icon theme. Alternative you could raise a bug or feature request
on http://bugs.kde.org and request for the Oxygen theme to have corresponding
desktop theme icons.

I have the same issue :(
Unfortunately this is a bug!!! Again, this is NO bug!!!
Not only those shutdown, reboot and log-out icons have been changed, but for example application icons VLC, SMPlayer, Ktorrent and mime types icons for pictures and videos have been changed to breeze as well!!! :(
And this is totally unrelated to this bug report anyway. These icons are taken from the configured icon theme.
Funny thing is that you cannot uninstall breeze themes because it will uninstall the whole Plasma :o
And if you could, you would not have any icons at all. Would you prefer that? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I have changed desktop themes to all installed and none of them changed those icons!!!
And what icontheme did you configure in systemsettings ??
Not only those shutdown, reboot and log-out icons have been changed, but for example application icons VLC, SMPlayer, Ktorrent and mime types icons for pictures and videos have been changed to breeze as well!!! :(
Those icons are controlled by the icontheme that can be defined through systemsettings. Did you check what icontheme you have actually active ?
Back then I managed to changed them back to oxygen by deleting breeze and hicolor catalogs in /usr/share/icons and it went back to normal, but now it
Wow, this is solving issues with a big hammer and just keep on banging until it is fixed :) As before did you actually ever looked to change the icontheme defined in the systemsettings ?
shutdown, reboot and log-out icons in KDE menu are breeze and all breeze is terrible!!! :(
Whether or not you find the breeze icons terrible, is not a bug. You can set a different icontheme through the systemsettings, so you have choices. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yes, I did and to be 100% sure I changed them to adwaita and then back to oxygen but still those horrible breeze icons wouldn't vanish.

The thing is I can't change those icons to oxygen because they always stay breeze. They only go back to oxygene when I uninstalled last framework updates.
