[Bug 574469] New: vpnc creates a resolv.conf that cannot be overwritten by dhclient
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=574469 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=574469#c0 Summary: vpnc creates a resolv.conf that cannot be overwritten by dhclient Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: norbert-ortegel@gmx.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 SUSE/3.5.6-1.1.1 Firefox/3.5.6 I use the Cisco VPN client version 05.2r394-6.1-i586. When opening a vpn-tunnel by executing vpnc /etc/vpnc/vpnc.conf as root the file /etc/resolv.conf is overwritten with the following content: #@VPNC_GENERATED@ -- this file is generated by vpnc # and will be overwritten by vpnc # as long as the above mark is intact ### /etc/resolv.conf file autogenerated by netconfig! # # Before you change this file manually, consider to define the # static DNS configuration using the following variables in the # /etc/sysconfig/network/config file: # NETCONFIG_DNS_STATIC_SEARCHLIST # NETCONFIG_DNS_STATIC_SERVERS # NETCONFIG_DNS_FORWARDER # or disable DNS configuration updates via netconfig by setting: # NETCONFIG_DNS_POLICY='' # # See also the netconfig(8) manual page and other documentation. # # Note: Manual change of this file disables netconfig too, but # may get lost when this file contains comments or empty lines # only, the netconfig settings are same with settings in this # file and in case of a "netconfig update -f" call. # ### Please remove (at least) this line when you modify the file! search lrz-muenchen.de uni-muenchen.de nameserver XX.XXX.XXX.XX nameserver XXX.XXX.X.X (For security I have deleted the original IP-adresses). After the vpn-connection has been disconnected, I can no more access my local LAN-network since dhclient (version isc-dhclient-V3.1.2p1) is not able to overwrite resolv.conf. When executing dhclient, I obtain the usual output and no error-message that indicates that dhclient was not able to rewrite resolv.conf. A reboot does not help (Why should it anyway...) A workaround is to manually delete the file resolv.conf. Then an execution of dhclient creates a new resolv.conf that works with my network. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.execute "vpnc /etc/vpnc/vpnc.conf" as root 2.execute "dhclient" as root 3. Actual Results: dhclient can no more overwrite /etc/resolv.conf. This is also the case after a reboot. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
