[Bug 381904] New: "Use Automatic Configuration" confusing and help text not helpful
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=381904 Summary: "Use Automatic Configuration" confusing and help text not helpful Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Beta 1 Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Usability AssignedTo: locilka@novell.com ReportedBy: sh@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: siegfried.olschner@novell.com, mschmidkunz@novell.com, evamaria.fuchs@novell.com Found By: --- When selecting the installation mode during installation ("New installation", "update", "repair") there is a check box "Use Automatic Configuration". It is in no way obvious what that setting does, and the corresponding help text is in no way helpful: It only rephrases the text on the check box. It says: "To let the new installation to create an automatic configuration, select Use Automatic Configuration. Otherwise, manual configuration will be used. Update mode does not support automatic configuration." That help text is IMHO useless. It only restates the obvious, but it does not in any way explain what will happen, nor does it give any hint to users which setting might be appropriate for what kind of user or scenario. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
