Hi Simon,
Please try updating to the following RPM version of ipw3945 which is found on
bug report 330995:
Default Kernel
https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=179370
Big SMP Kernel
https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=179371
You can download and upgrade by doing:
(rename the file to ipw3945-kmp-default-1.2.2_2.6.22.5_31-5.18.i586.rpm after
downloading).
sudo rpm -Uvh ipw3945-kmp-default-1.2.2_2.6.22.5_31-5.18.i586.rpm
This is a patched version of the ipw3945 driver.
If you do not feel comfortable doing that, then what method of network are you
using? NetworkManager? ifup?
Also, try setting up WPA encryption on your AP and attaching with your box. The
bug seems to be an issue with associating with ESSID if no Encryption.
