I do not have the exact message but it was something regarding: There are errors on the disk. Enter now your root password. To reboot to this special mode you can only use Ctrl+D otherwise the reboot will be normal. The command to mount the disk as RW is mount something ,rw After entering the root password you are dumped into a root prompt with no other indications. This process is highly confusing. If there is an error in disk preventing the system from loading the user should simply be prompted for the password and the recovery should be automatic (e.g. such as in Microsoft Windows).
