Hello, i can confirm this bug.
It is actually introduced by SuSE's openvpn Patch3 :
openvpn-no-build-date.patch
I don't know the reason behind this patch but the effect is that kvpnc cannot
detect openvpn version anymore.
Kvpn search for the string "built" to find the line containing version in
"openvpn --version" output. Without that string, it is unable to detect openvpn
version. You can check in kvpnc preferences, the version is not displayed with
the openvpn binary (in debug mode it says openvpn version 0.0.0).
To know if he should include "--script-security 2" when calling openvpn, kvpnc
check if openvpn version is greater than 2.1-rc9. This check fails because of
the missing version info and fallback to old behaviour (without
"--script-security).
I think this bug should be re-assigned to the openvpn maintainer because the
openvpn-no-build-date.patch change the default behavior of the software (but
maybe there is a good reason for that, i don't know), and thus breaking another
application essential functionality
