Someone is very keen that pata_pdc202xx_old get's used, not compiled in kernel
- get a 'Fatal' error
So this shows it's not my incompetence. Compiling a nearly generic kernel
myself, with the HPT366 patch and test booting on this machine, I now see.
oak:~ # cat /proc/cmdline
root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00
resume=/dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST360015A_3KB0LA20-part10 splash=silent showopts
vga=0x317
oak:~ # lsmod |grep pdc202
pdc202xx_old 5936 1
ide_core 97940 2 ide_disk,pdc202xx_old
oak:~ # echo Yeeee Haaaaaaa!
Yeeee Haaaaaaa!
oak:~ # uname -a
Linux oak 2.6.27.7-Rob #1 SMP Mon Dec 8 19:20:25 GMT 2008 i686 athlon i386
GNU/Linux
So currently the workround (solution?) is to compile kernel without
pata_pdc202xx_old compiled, and ignore the error messages.
Can a kernel config file change to remove the 'experimental' pata_pdc202xx_old
driver, be considered for 11.1 GM release?
